VS X9 Crashing on Capture

Post by RAF »

Hello everyone,

Just installed X9 Pro...it's updated to 19.5.0.35. In the capture step after 4 sec of capture, program crashes...w/this

C:\Users\Randy\AppData\Local\Temp\WERF42E.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml
C:\Users\Randy\AppData\Local\Temp\WERFFE2.tmp.appcompat.txt
C:\Users\Randy\AppData\Local\Temp\WER14A.tmp.mdmp

The capture card is a ATI analog that works just fine with VS X4 ProUltimate. Using W7. Using X9 In capture mode the source lists as ATI AVStream Analog Capture. Have been pulling video from VHS tapes for a while now w/X4, then I had the issue with W7 and the program not opening.....fixed it and then decided to upgrade to X9. Now this problem.

Any Ideas?

I suspect you may have been lucky getting the card to work with earlier versions of VS. Normally we recommend that people use any software which came with their specific card or capture device to capture the video, then to open it in VS for editing. If the software which came with the device happens to be a version of VS, then almost certainly it has been tweaked to work with the card or device.

VS seems to work out of the box with only a very small range of capture cards/devices -- mainly because the hardware manufacturers are often reluctant to share their proprietary secrets with Corel (and other software makers).

Are you using the full version of X9 or just the trial version at the moment? I ask since the trial version has been severely crippled by Corel.

But at least you have the workaround of being able to capture with X4 and X7. If they continue to work with your card, at least you can capture with them, and do your editing in X9. The end quality will not be any different.
