Can someone render a video for me?

Post by cheesycow5 »

Every time I try to render my video, the computer shuts itself off part way through. I was rendering 1080p so I decided to render 720p instead, but it still shut off at 56%. I'm assuming it's overheating, since the bottom of the laptop gets very hot. I will probably try to clean the fan soon.

Could I send someone my project file to render at 1080p preferably?

I'm using the free trial of X9.

Please and thanks!

Hi, Only now in the heat of summer you decide to clean the fans? what about extra fans...
How one can render your project file if the video files are on your laptop?

Well I can use the computer most times until I start rendering and using up all the CPU.

But I figured it out (sort of). I changed the power options to a maximum processor speed of 50%. Then I downloaded "Speed Fan" to monitor the CPU temperature. When I'm not rendering, it's at around 56 degrees. When rendering, it goes to at least 80.

And the final step...I aimed a hair dryer on the cold setting right into the intake vent on the bottom. I ran the render and whenever it went over 75, I blow dried it until the temperature got back to 60. I kept repeating that until the render was finished.

I'm glad I had the "Speed Fan" program. Otherwise I'd have to keep blowing the whole time, and it's tiring to hold it in position and press down on the cold button for a long time.

You could purchase a Lap-Chill Mat which circulates cool air under your laptop, when I edited using my laptop I always turned the mat on, works a treat, many different types are available if you google search

I don't know if I'd want to buy that since I don't often render videos, so the blow dryer method will probably suffice until I fix the fan. I can't get in to clean it though, because one of the screws holding the laptop together is stripped. So far, I haven't found a way that I could easily unscrew it with the tools at my disposal. I'd hate to have to take it to get it repaired though, just because of one little screw.

Edit: I found a video showing how to remove the screw just by drilling straight into it, so I'll try that when I get a chance.

I'm curious if anyone would have actually rendered the video for me.

I ended up drilling a small bit directly into the stripped screw which broke the top of the screw off, so that I could take the bottom off. Then I found a video describing the steps to take apart the computer to get to the fan/vent. (More complicated than I had assumed, lots of ribbon connectors to unplug, but still very doable.) The actual fan seemed okay, so I didn't take off the fan housing to clean that too, but the vent going out from the fan was almost completely blocked by what looked like dryer lint. I cleaned that off and now the computer mostly says at normal operating temperatures. It was getting up to at least 90C but now it's staying around 65C.
