how to have back the Windows theme (scrollbar and title) ?
hi,
i upgraded from X3 to X8.
i noticed than X8 have its "special" scrollbars in image window and even the application have its own titlebar with its 3 corel windows options boxes !
i dislike them, it is a fact, they are unproductible and also not really beautiful :
- scrollbars are too thin (like old amiga OS or palm OS) , not normal at all, too dark, you use them with difficulties, lost of time
- X8 titlebar is a mess : too big, not convenient to windows environnement, and the 3 options are out of the dot (i mean when you go in the right-top-upper corner and clic, them you clic on nothing whereas it should close the windows using the close option).
so, is there an option in X8's preferences to get rid of that corel custom scheme style and go back to windows classic environnement graphic components ?

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying so forgive me if I misunderstood. It sounds like you might be in tabbed documents but prefer window mode. If so, go to the window menu and untick tabbed documents.
If this is not what you mean, perhaps upload a screen-shot to further explain.

Re: how to have back the Windows theme (scrollbar and title)
Thanks, now I see what you mean.
Yes, the scroll bar is narrower in X8 and unfortunately there is no setting that you can change to remedy this.
Also, I am pretty sure you are in "tabbed mode". Go to your Windows menu and untick "tabbed documents". Once you do that you will see the 3 windows option icons you mentioned; the ones for minimize, maximize/restore and close. Here's what it will look like in X8 once you untick tabbed documents in the windows menu.

Re: how to have back the Windows theme (scrollbar and title)
the size of the scrollbar is my first problem.
the second problem is about the window options not from the window image, but from the window application.
there is 1 or 2 pixels of padding when X8 application is maximized. So , when you click in the top right corner of the windows, then you clic on nothing whereas you should close the application (by hit the red cross button).
As X8 application have its own custom window title bar, then it is not right!

Sorry but I'm just not seeing your second problem. Here is a screen shot of my entire screen with X8 maximized and I have no issues whatsoever clicking on the white X to close the program.

Re: how to have back the Windows theme (scrollbar and title)
Kathy, I wonder if Michael is referring to the Full Screen Mode (Shift+A) view. No window controls when that is selected. I've caught myself before wondering where the controls had gone after I had selected this view and then forgotten the selection.

Re: how to have back the Windows theme (scrollbar and title)
I think you are correct Mark... Michael REMY seems to be talking about when the PSP screen is in the Full Screen Mode when he says:
I rarely use that mode (as I don't really see the point of it). But I know, as you would too, that you only need to hit the ESC key or again use Shift+A to revert to normal view where all the Windows control boxes are back in the top right corner...there is 1 or 2 pixels of padding when X8 application is maximized.

Re: how to have back the Windows theme (scrollbar and title)
I think he's referring to the effective activation size of the close button.
It's easier to randomly hit the default Windows sized close button. But with PSP if you don't hit within this much smaller area it won't close.
With Windows the effective area goes all the way to the edges, in PSP there is a padding of several pixels.

Re: how to have back the Windows theme (scrollbar and title)
I just updated to Windows 10 from 7, and I never use PSP full screen (for my own reasons) but Michael REMY is right when he says that PSP doesn't conform to what most other Windows compatible programs do, in Win 10 anyway.
The PSP program window, when maximized (with the middle button top right or double-click the title bar), has, like all other Windows programs, the three buttons on the top right.
In most other Windows programs I have on my PC, when maximized you can send your mouse cursor to the top right corner of the screen and the close button "X" is activated and turns red. Click and the program closes.
The X-button in PSP however, is smaller, with a "frame" of a couple of pixels around it (just like on an image frame in the untabbed edit workspace) so just going to the top right of the screen does not bring the cursor to the button and activate the X-Close button.
So: most programs you shove the mouse to the top right and close, with PSP you have to aim at the button.
Again, this is the behaviour I see in Windows 10. Not a big deal, none at all to me anyway, but obviously Michael thinks differently.
Edit: what LeviFiction said above

Re: how to have back the Windows theme (scrollbar and title)
Thanks Mark. Now I understand what Michael is saying. I thought he was talking about the program window being maximized but he was actually talking about full screen mode.
Same thing happens on Windows 7; the 3 icons (minimize; restore/maximize & X to close) disappear when in full screen mode. You have to hit the Escape key to get them back.

Re: how to have back the Windows theme (scrollbar and title)
No, Kathy,
Look again at the size and placement of the three buttons at the top right of the PSP window. My screenshots are magnified 200% and clearly show the difference, as do LeviFiction's.
The standard Windows 10 buttons are probably 'optimized' for touchscreens and big fingertips.
Where the PSP Close button (light grey X on grey) is not the full top right corner of the screen, the Windows (white X on red) standard is. Windows standard, just move the cursor to the top right and you can close the window, while in PSP you have to aim at the (smaller) button to activate it.
Note: the cursor activates the lighter grey of the PSP button, and the red of the standard Windows button, it just isn't included in the screen shots. Otherwise both of the buttons have the same colour as the other two buttons.

Re: how to have back the Windows theme (scrollbar and title)
you right, it is what i mean. i use the maximize mode, not the fullscreen one. i speak about the psp windows application (not the image inside).LeviFiction wrote:I think he's referring to the effective activation size of the close button.

due to its own customized titlebar , psp application does have a standart windows environnement size. so, there is one or two pixel of padding around the 3box options in the top right corner. i use to full move my mouse there to close PSP, now it does not work anymore.
all windows applications in maximize mode can be closed by this method (top mouse in the corner), but not PSP x8 !
