Paint Shop Pro x8 not responding

Post by fndooley »

More of an aggravation than anything else, but if I leave my PaintShop Pro 8x open without activity, for 30 minutes or so, it locks up. When I try to switch back to it, the program is obviously frozen and I all I can do is go to my task master, close it and then relaunch. I have dug around in the settings and on my computer, and cannot find anything that is readily apparent that would be causing this. None of my other programs do this, only the Corel. Just thought I would throw it out there to see if anyone else has had this issue and if there is a work around or fix. Thanks in advance.

mine does it practically every time I use it here at home, but never does it on my work computer. so it is not the program. has to have something to do with a configuration on my computer, but I don't even know where to start looking.

I don't know if this will help the issue you people are having, but for troubleshooting purposes I would suggest you start by going to Preferences>Autosave Settings and on each of the tabs UNcheck the options. If that helps - or not - it would be nice if you would report back.

okay, I will check it and report back... but I really don't want to not use the autosave settings - but I am curious to see if this is the root cause of the issue. stay tuned.

changed the preferences, like you suggested. program did not shut down! Will keep it open for awhile, but looks like this is the issue.

I'll get in on this gripe session too. I did the uncheck of all auto save and no luck. I'll add that Task Manager shows 100% CPU usage when it locks up.
Glad I got it at a good price, cause X6 sure does run better :(
