No input signal (VS7se/Sony-DV)

Post by VideoNoob »

Hello comunity!

I searched, but didn't find any help on the boards..

I use Video Studio 7 (updated) on a winxp pro machine. until yesterday, capturing videos from a Sony DV-Recorder DSR20-P worked just fine. Suddenly, it stoped working. When I try to change the folder where it shall save the files, it says something like: "path too long, no disk space or invalid name.."
When I try to capture the video (MPEG), there is no visual image, the device runs for about 4 seconds (counter is NOT counting), stops and then says: "File damaged and could not be saved, being deleted (again, something like that, it's in german..), no input signal, make sure the device is connected." Something about a devicemanager which may not be installed comes as well..

I have no codec packs installed. I captured in MPEG-2, usually. Can you help me? I have really tried everything I could..

Thanks in advance!

Update:

I have reinstalled the software, but no change.

The funny thing is, that it appeared just like that.. It worked, and in a sudden, it didn't work anymore..
Now, am cleaning the harddrive to make get some more space.

I installed the Panasonic DV codecs and now, I can see the image, well, at least half of it. there are fat black bars runing over half of the image..
In options, there where I can choose mpeg1 or two, there stays "NTSC" in TV-System, but I am in europe. doesn't there have to stand "PAL"? How could I change that?

Please help, I am really going crazy with this crapy windowsmachines..

I got it.. The Ulead-Codecs seemed to be corrupt. Reinstalling doesn't help, because they are very persistent and are in the registry even after uninstalling VideoStudio.

A very useful program called "Codec Sniper" helped. It allows you to delete all codecs you want to get rid of. Afterwards, I reinstalled Ulead VideoStudio7se and with it all the codecs. Voila!

That was a rough day. Thanks for listening though :)
