Just want to second this on vector editing, especially boolean tools and the node type hotkeys (even if it has to be enabled/customized in the preferences or something). Someone else mentioned customizing the size/color of vector nodes, that would be nice as well.LeviFiction wrote: Improvements to vector tools:
1) Dragging a line to adjust the curve
2) Use of hotkeys to change node type while drawing curves
3) Spiral pre-set shape tool
4) Boolean tools - Union, Intersect, Difference, etc.
5) Basic SVG import/export. At this point just shapes and colors. Nothing advanced.
6) Stroke to path conversion. Makes a new object based on the stroke of the selected object.
7) Subscript and Superscript settings for text.

Re: Wishlist for PaintShop Pro X10
wolfmoonhp - it's not an obvious feature but PSP does have the ability to mask by luminosity. When you create a new mask it has the option "From Image" where you choose a source image and choose by luminosity. To assist with luminosity masking csh2000 and cosmicDread have a few scripts that assist with this.

Are you saying that Paintshop Pro X10 should become the same as Affinity? If so, how does having two identical programs in the market help either Corel or the people who make Affinity?JoeB wrote:tomkinsrichard wrote:Wow, hey, is this ever cool. Re: Wishlist for PaintShop Pro X10
I have looked at Affinity and having been raised on the PSP school of thought find it very wanting.
1. Can only work in tabbed mode, cannot view a number of pictures on the work space at once.
2. Mouse scroll wheel defaults to scrolling up and down the image, must hold control key down to zoom in and out.
3. Paint brush tool - must use shortcut key to change size [ , changing color is a bit like Photoshop 4 clicks to choose the foreground color and switch to background color and change it (in PSP it is a simple left click foreground and right click background) ie. PSP recognises that we have a right click button and uses it well, Photoshop and Affinity ignore the right click button.
4. No undo button, have to use the ancient control Z .
5. Eraser tool left click drag works as in PSP but no unerase via Right click drag.
6. Layer thumbnails too small, dragging a layer onto the image does not produce a copy and paste.
These are just a few of the faults that puts me off that program
Pros- They have a very good series of over 100 small videos on each of the tools and effects explaining how tools work. three videos on Crop tool alone.

Yes, isn't that the bad side effect of originating on Crapple computers? I seem to recall that even to this day the MacInPoops don't use the right mouse button.hartpaul wrote: Photoshop and Affinity ignore the right click button.

Re: Wishlist for PaintShop Pro X10
I never got sucked into the Mac hype so didn't realize that they made no use (or little use) of the right click button, which definitely makes for an inefficient use of available tools. I am aware that customization of workspaces with various programs seems to be extremely limited with Mac programs or with Windows versions of those programs, another example of lack of efficiency. Photoshop is a prime example, and lack of customizing options is a major one of various reasons I've never liked using it.photodrawken wrote:Yes, isn't that the bad side effect of originating on Crapple computers? When you use Save then PSP assumes you want to save the same image with the same name. If you want to change the name or location you have to use Save As (sshortcut key F12).Michael REMY wrote:hi,

Re: Wishlist for PaintShop Pro X10
More blend modes for layers. Would really like to see the add and subtract blend modes added (not the same using >Image>arithmetic>subtract).
Using the arithmetic function usually just results in a greyscale image.

With the arithmetic command you have to make sure that "all channels" is selected to avoid a greyscale image. Otherwise, it subtracts individual channels only and those are greyscale
But I agree, I would like to see more blend modes like those as well.

Re: Wishlist for PaintShop Pro X10
Serif? Really? They have been known to release software that they didn't even take the references to content on their servers they were using to "beta" (more likely alpha) test.tomkinsrichard wrote:Wow, hey, is this ever cool. Affinity Photo https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/photo/ ... INAPTREXP1
20+ year Serif customer here. Used to be great --- since 2012 or 2013, not really. Lots of software that was still in beta getting released as finished.
They will release software that flat does not work, and instead of fixing it, give you workarounds until the next version ... when they promise they'll fix it, if you pay them again.
Then they woke up one day and decided their Plus line of software should go bye bye (too many had gotten wise to them) and they dropped it and started the affinity line. That was likely because they would try to reach a new market of unsuspecting folks ... MAC users originally.
No thanks, I've been bit by that nasty snake already! I'm not sticking my hand in again and expecting to find a sweet fluffy bunny this time.

Re: Wishlist for PaintShop Pro X10
I'm missing something there. I don't get a greyscale image, I get a black image using the arithmetic function. Will keep playing with it, but can't get the desired effect.LeviFiction wrote:With the arithmetic command you have to make sure that "all channels" is selected to avoid a greyscale image. Re: Wishlist for PaintShop Pro X10
What exactly are you doing?
The Arithmetic command works on the whole image, taking a combined result and using that. Then depending on if you choose "all channels" or just one of the three channels (RGB) will use the whole result or the individual channels chosen. Doesn't work on layers. So if you subtract an image from itself you'll get a black result. But if you use bias and divisor, and whether or not you clip the values will also effect the result. So depending on what you're combining and the other settings I can understand that result.
I keep asking them to build in a preview for this command but it hasn't happened yet. I love it for creating masks, but it's so much fiddling and closing the resultant image and you're never completely sure what the result will be until you hit the "OK" button.
