Re: Wishlist for PaintShop Pro X10
Step 1) Select a Raster layer
Step 2) Change the font settings (font, size, alignment, stroke, color, etc.)
Step 3) Place the text
Step 4) Re-select Raster layer
Step 5) Change text values again
Step 6) To create a new vector layer just click with the text tool, to add to the existing vector layer, reselect the vector layer first then click on the image to add a new text object
The result, the second text object has different settings than the first one. You don't edit the first text, and you don't have to set a text object down first to select new settings. It's ugly, it adds an extra step or two, but it works.
Here's a video describing the feature, the issue, and the workaround. I do apologize if I sound stressed, or manic in anyway. It's registration time at the college and the students are driving me batty.

Re: Wishlist for PaintShop Pro X10
I just watched your video and you still started out with how easy it is to edit text now. I don't want to do that: I know I was trying to do that in my first post after getting X9 but that issue has been resolved. Your instructions say to select the raster layer, then change the parameters. Then select the raster layer and change the parameters to something different. That's not what I"m doing. The script I use runs with the font, font size, and so on already set and adds different text to multiple images. X9 ignores what I set in favor of what I used on the previous image. If I want to add text to a single image, than your instructions work in X9, but that is not what I need. I suppose I could do that on one image, then maybe the script would work correctly on all the others; but I don't have to do that in any other version of PSP. Do you see my point?LeviFiction wrote:Step 1) Select a Raster layer

I didn't notice if you were stressed; and I apologize for not "getting it" but I think we are talking about apples and oranges here.
Edit to add: I just watched your video again and you said reverting to previously set text parameters only works if you have a vector layer selected. I never had a vector layer on any of my images. If you add text to a raster layer, it creates a vector layer and uses the same font, font color, etc., that was used on the previous image. It's really easy to change that to what I wanted to begin with, but why do I need to do that? Corel has made it extremely easy to edit text, and extremely difficult to enter that text in the first place.

Re: Wishlist for PaintShop Pro X10
I believe I know what you're saying. And I'm telling you how it is now, and that your old way isn't going to work anymore and these are the reasons. If you think I don't get it, and especially if this deals specifically with scripting can you setup a new topic with examples and full instructions?
In scripting, for example, if I only record adding text and then move over to another image that has a vector layer with text in it then the text changes to match that in my script. Which is annoying. SO I have to remove the TargetPath in order to force it to always create a new text object. But I've never seen a script that has all of its values set, use the font from a previous image. It always uses the font from the script that I recorded. The only way it wouldn't is if some of the font style parameters are set to "None" in which case the script will use the last used settings.

Re: Wishlist for PaintShop Pro X10
I don't create the scripts; I'm using Suz Shook's script for adding names to images. That's the way her script works. There was an older script that would add the text with certain scripted parameters, but it is so old that I don't know if it would work now. So I will go back to X8 and hope the next version has a trial that I can use before buying. This one didn't. Thanks for trying to help me with this; I really do appreciate it. I still think Corel breaks something in every new version of PSP that works in previous versions.

Re: Wishlist for PaintShop Pro X10
A masking brush that would accomplish what now requires a show-all/hide-all (I'm always getting confused which does what) mask and a black or white paintbrush. Allow this masking brush to adjust hardness all the way down to 0 and have a full range of opacity settings. The current layers process is confusing and step intensive when often all I want is a brush to make a quick, thin and highly feathered mask before applying a "fix."

My Mnemonic is BLACK will BLOCK(I'm always getting confused which does what) mask and a black or white paintbrush.

Re: Wishlist for PaintShop Pro X10
Regarding Panorama stitching, as I pointed out on the first page of this topic, "Ain't gonna happen". Here's a wishlist post from Feb 2009 (PSP X2-era): "A panorama tool ... and a really good high quality one." And there's still none--so there's no point in discussing it again.mc_peko wrote:TEXT:
Wish: Preserve text as editable when exporting to Photo Shop, if possible.
Wish: Panorama stitching.
Regarding Preserving [whatever] when exporting to Photoshop, I was quite shocked when I discovered that PE and PSP recognize the existence of each other's adjustment layers (for example) but don't apply them. I was also surprised to find out that information added to an industry standard format by one program isn't seen by the other program. (The format was either PNG or JPEG, possibly both. It's been quite a while.)
As LeviFiction has pointed out, there is no "industry standard" for Adobe's proprietary formats. All Corel can do is try to make its products as compatible as possible, taking into account how much demand there is for particular features, how much information is available about what a file must contain in order to be treated as "native" by an Adobe product, and how much resources Corel could dedicate to developing that particular feature.

I'm not certain I understand your example, but I think I do. It looks like you're saying that the user could select a set of individual fonts and then only those fonts would be shown.Radim wrote:PSP X10 - font filtering (as InDesign CC 2015.5).
That sounds like a great idea. I would add that the user should be able to save the group as a named preset.
One of the things I hate in general about the way Microsoft does fonts is there are so many fonts that are almost identical. It would be nice to be able to create presets with, for instance, "Basic" containing one sans serif, one serif, one script, etc. Or conversely, create a set with all the ones that look similar, e.g., a "Sans Serif" set with Arial, Letter Gothic, Helvetic and others that look very similar. And "theme" sets such as "Mood" with "scary", "funny", "exaggerated", etc.

On the Visible watermark would like to see more options on placement especially in the lower corners..the current options on 9 work well but sometimes would like to be able to move that watermark to another location on a photo depending on what is on the bottom...not fond of watermarks in the middle although I do see need for them at times...

I would like to see PSP keep the tool I was using after resizing a layer. Not it reverts to the pan tool after resizing.

What tool did you use?
When I resize using the Crop Tool, it remains the Crop Tool. when using the Deform Tool or the Pick Tool, it remains the Crop or Pick Tool.
I use X9, 1st service pack, I didn't install the 2nd as I had no issues.

Hi Joelle, I use the move tool all the time and only occasionally switch to something else.

EDITED:
I wonder if the OP mans resizing using the Resize menu option? If I use that option to resize either the whole image or just a layer on the image still keeps the tool I was using active UNLESS I have the move tool selected before the resize. Then the Move tool switches to the Pan tool.

Re: Wishlist for PaintShop Pro X10
I do use the resize menu; I could use the deform tool to resize a layer but not to precise sizes. It doesn't matter whether I resize a layer or a whole image, it reverts to the pan tool. If I resize an image, copy and paste it on another image, I have to switch to the move tool to put it where I want it.
