Yes you should have the sound - how did you capture your video - what connections did you use - did you have "Capture Audio" ticked in 'Capture Options' - help us to help you - more information please.

In additon, does your camera capture sound in Dolby AC-3 format? If so, VS 8 is only capable of capturing the audio if you have the optional ($30) AC-3 module or some other AC-3 capture module...

You might have a playback volume control issue. Lets try this, in your Windows XP bottom tool tray, right click on the "speaker icon",
then right-click on "open volume control", chose " properties", click on "Playback". Then put a check on all the boxes, so they are "on" volume control.

I have now checked all the boxes as suggested and retried but still no sound on playback. Options settings read : Capture audio ticked, capture to library video ticked. uvs050107.co6.AVI, then ! 160x12, then Avance audio c97., JVCVide pcm44100hz 16 bit stereo . 63.571MB hope this can help. I click capture it comes o the scrren and play I then click stop and then I replay and at no time do I have sound Obviously I am ding something wrong

may be a crippled function of the trial version. I had the same problem with version 7SE. When you look at the properties it indicates that the audio is not there. Only way to get around it is to upgarde to the fully functional version and it works fine.
I feel your pain and frustration it only took me a week to figure it out.

Hi John,

I cannot agree your words :( I have the same problem like Sylvia has!
I'm also working with XP and VS 8 (upgrade). AC3-plugin as well as last patch is already installed. I have no sound from mpg-files with Dolby-Digital-sound, that Dolby sound was created automatically when I make a copy of a video to an DVD. It seems that this is the same problem like Sylvia has. I'm digging since a lot of days all over the internet, but I found no answer, hopefully someone in this forum can help us!
BTW, last year I have had W2k on my PC, there it was running, than my drive was broken and I changed to XP, ok,ok I know that was the error  but I have the feeling that I'm not allone with this problem.
Maybe someone has an idea (a better one than to switch the Operating System  )

regards
Juergen

In addition look at the recording properties tab, make sure the 'line-in' is selected.
you can only select one of the options in the record window.

I have checked the audio I have cd , line in and mike ticked in record and all ticked in playback but still no sound on capture or burn.

You must have a different system to us Sylvia - because like Trevor I can only select one option at a time - as soon as I try to click another box the previous one unticks its self.

Have you tried playing one of your captured files in another programme - like media player - do it have sound there.??

I have now put the trial version on my old laptop with windows ME and the sound is perfectly alright on there. I wonder if it had anything to do with the fact that I downloaded the software for the camera _ Imagemaker 1.7 on my main computer and I don`t have this on the laptop. Images maker 1.7 will play the sound on my main computer but not ulead .Mayber if I uninstall the image maker on my main comp. then ulead will work. Hope this makes sense
