MAKING CUTS DURING EDITING
Is there a way to disable cutting that goes from PROJECT to CLIP.
It's a hassle to keep putting it back.
Is there anyway to keep the cutting to stay in PROJECT mode,
instead of having to put back to project mode from CLIP mode ?
ANY input is greatly apreciated.
Using Corel videoStudio ultimate pro X8 Thanks

Re: MAKING CUTS DURING EDITING
If I am understanding you correctly, then the answer is no. In project mode, the program treats the whole timeline as a single virtual clip. But if you want to cut individual clips in the timeline, it reverts to Clip mode because that is what you are doing. Once you start thinking that way -- illogical though it might seem to you at the moment -- it then becomes rather more automatic to make the cuts, then revert to Project mode.
Or maybe I have not understood you correctly and other users have better suggestions...

Re: MAKING CUTS DURING EDITING
Here is what it looks like when you want to make a cut. Notice it's in PROJECT mode

Here it is when you make the cut it is in CLIP mode.

The only time it stays in Project mode is if you highlight any files a few times , then make a cut it stays in project mode.
So i'm guessing there is no lock to keep it in project mode to make cuts and not have to click out of clip mode. Shame that they never made that option cause when you edit live video, as you see in the picture it becomes a hassle to constantly have to put it back. There should be an option to do that.

Re: MAKING CUTS DURING EDITING
Hi
If you switch to Project mode and make a cut, it will cut all clips under the curser.
If you play or reposition the curser it will remain in project mode, and again cut all clips.
Only by selecting a single clip will it switch to Clip Mode.
To switch to project mode, click the top line showing the timecode that will reposition the curser in Project mode.
If you wish to edit a single clip then you have to use Clip mode.
If you wish to remain in project mode do not select individual clips.
You appear to be editing Multi Cameras, are you aware that CVSX9 has a Multi Camera Editor, maybe give the trial a run?

Re: MAKING CUTS DURING EDITING
Not what I want to do. They should have made a on/off switch so you can choose to make as many cuts you want, then when you delete the one's you don't want and then back again to making cuts.
It's kinda like what X3 was doing, it didn't cut the audio when you make the cut where you wanted to, and after 5,6,7,8,9 all cut audio as well. Now i have to drag the audio along as each cut makes noise where it was cut.

Re: MAKING CUTS DURING EDITING
Hi
If they made an “on off” switch they could call it Clip and Project, you would of course have to click that with your mouse. I suppose you could simply click those words next to the play button.
I assume you wished to cut the video tracks and not the audio track.
In cutting the audio track you say there is a noise on each cut. I don’t know why that should be?
You can restore the audio track without cuts by deleting the second to last audio clip then extending the first audio clip fully right.
Or delete the lot and import the clip again.
There is an option to Disable the track, but still cuts, seems strange it should do that.

Re: MAKING CUTS DURING EDITING
I just wish I could make cuts until I have to delete the camera shots I don't choose and then click project when done and continue to make cuts of which camera shot I want and continue as that. And yeah, not having audio would be another feature to not have cut as that is another step not needed if you plan on using the audio.

Re: MAKING CUTS DURING EDITING
Is this your first or only multicamera project? If so I would advise (as you use X8) to put Main on main track and than overlay just one camera at a time, edit it and just than add another and another each time in relation to the background.
Or upgrade to X9 and use MCE.

Re: MAKING CUTS DURING EDITING
This isn't my first rodeo. I have been using Corel since 2010. I put the HAND camera in main shot to know when I have a good shot, and when I don't, I choose from any of the other shots. I use up to 6 cameras and have been doing this the same way since I started filming live bands.
I was asking if there was a way to keep it in the PROJECT mode without it constantly moving to the CLIP until I wanted it to be in that mode. I guess there isn't and I can guess 9 doesn't either.
Maybe in 10 or 11 they could make an option for this. And it's nice that they have the new 6 camera shots in the view screen and that it also finds when they all start at the same time...but I figured that out years ago to hit record on all cameras at the same time so in post, they all line up at the same time. So I don't need 9. I'll wait for the next or the one after that.
This is what it looks like when I edit.First picture shows you ALL camera shots so I can edit and see what I have while I move about. Second is what it looks like when the shot i want is what I picked.
I take which shot I want and put it in the main video and if I need to adjust another shot and have to make the file bigger, I leave it where it lies and make it full screen and it fits in the main shot, but you can't put any edited frame in main as it won't be edited. As you see each camera shot I choose goes into the main shot and I drag the audio to be one complete file without it being cut as any cuts in audio makes a click sound.

Re: MAKING CUTS DURING EDITING
Hi
Maybe we misunderstand what is happening here
With the timeline set as your first image, are you saying if you simply hit the scissors then you see Image 2 with the lower track showing the clip selected.
When I do that the timelines remain in project mode with all tracks cut, then allows me to drag the curser or Play to a new position and cut again, remains in project mode.
Once I have made all cuts I can remove overlay clips leaving the one clip i need + the top track. Shift + click to select overlay clips.
But as asik says you may be best having the main camera angle on the top track.

Re: MAKING CUTS DURING EDITING
Look at my post that I started, it shows PROJECT and CLIP. I WANT to cut more than 1 time...I want to make numerous cuts AND I NEED to SEE the HAND shot in bigger picture, Main isn't used but 20% of the time, so no I NEED it as you see.

Re: MAKING CUTS DURING EDITING
Hi
Ok I think I understand, it is not that it switches from Project to Clip but you cannot view the result as each overlay track covers the others masking the final result.
So no you cannot make all cuts to all tracks.
But once you have a single clip on each timeline (rough cut) you can add or remove frames from each clip, fine tuning your cut / camera angles
However you should download the trial of CVSX9 and test the MCE options.
X8 to the left of the timelines shows a film spool icon, this hides the track making the video transparent.
A few more mouse clicks, but if you know you need a segment from track 3 then hide the lower tracks 2,4 and 5.
Then you are only working with two tracks at a time, but able to easily change to others for the next cut.

THIS IS WHAT IT DOES...
http://vid126.photobucket.com/albums/p1 ... expjbp.mp4
AND THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO DO...
http://vid126.photobucket.com/albums/p1 ... ubkr3j.mp4
The way to do this is to click on the extra tracks a few times and it will stay in PROJECT mode until you click on any video clip and then of course goes into CLIP mode.
All I was asking is IF they had an option to click ON/OFF , but as I see there is NO option to do this, except the way I can as you see in the second video.
THANKS ALL.

Re: MAKING CUTS DURING EDITING
Hi
A picture paints a thousand words...
thanks for the samples...
Ok, i was about to upload a video showing what i see, it is identical to your Capture 15 video, where the scissors cuts all tracks and remains on Project Playback.
I have not been able to replicate the Capture 14. All tests and cuts remain in Project mode?
There no "on/off" buttons to force project mode, it should not revert to Clip mode until we select an individual clip.
just done a few more tests and can now replicate your issue., it appears to be associated with the Voice track
If that clip was selected last then it reverts to Clip mode, if one of the video tracks are selected last then Project mode remains.
Although now that i can replicate it, things do seem a little chaotic.
Dont use Voice track
What happens if you insert the clip on the voice track(which appears to be a MTS video) to one of the overlay tracks, if it is in the way, reduce its size and drag to one side, the sound from that clip will still be heard.
Very strange, and would be classed as a program bug?

Re: MAKING CUTS DURING EDITING
Corel told me what you see is what you get. vs3 it didn't cut audio track at all, they said that was a mistake and should have.
I think we should decide what we want it to do. It should have more options in editing mode.
IF I am making a cut like you see in the 15, that is how it should work until you choose a clip,
but as you see in 14 video THAT is how it works from the get go.
It cuts all of the video and audio and it stays on the audio piece until I put project mode back on. It should not do that in my opinion.
SO IF I want to keep cutting, don't touch audio or main video track and I can,
otherwise I have to put it back on PROJECT mode EVERY single time I make a cut.
