I see under Options the "Boost marked colors" (see attached).

I'm trying some effect (using X8).

According to the help: Boost marked colors by — when you have a selection in your image, this option lets you make the colors in the selection more important by a factor of the value you enter.
In the few photos I tried it with I can see a difference but not really how the marked colours get boosted. It might be (more) useful in types of graphics/photos that I don't have.
