Can't install service pack 2 or 3 or x9.5 update

Post by rkstudio »

What in the world is the matter with Corel? Don't they do anything right at all??? So far, no matter what I do, I can't install any service packs. I'm downloading the recent update now which is 594 mb. It will take hours to install that I believe.

Here is the message I get no matter what I try to install. So far I haven't tried the .5 update, but I'll find out soon.

If the VS which is installed can be opened, what version shows in Help > About? It is highly likely you have the version before X9.5 installed since the wording of that message is Corel's strange way of saying you have the latest version. If you only recently downloaded the main installation package, Corel also roll service packs into it.

The version number is 19.5.0.35. Since some say they still have 19.3, then maybe it's installed already.

And that's without installing the .5 update yet.

If your version is 19.5.0.35 then the 9.5 update is already installed

Really? I wonder how that would happen if I didn't install it. No one else uses my computer. ??? Oh, unless it was installed before I got it. I got x9 ultimate a few months ago online with that $15 deal they offered. It was an upgrade from VS Ultimate X6. I think that's the only way I could have it.

Locate the file vstudio.exe on your system. hover over it or check it's properties> details there you will see your absolute final version.

Hi Bob

When you upgraded to X9 it is possible that you downloaded the latest version.
Any new sales will download CVSX9.5.
If that is the case, then you do not require any service packs.

The image shows the properties of the Ultimate folder, I assume you have this and not the Pro.
Notice the file size.

The earlier CVSX9 file size was :-
Size (1,156,407,157 bytes)
Size on Disc (1,157,443,585 bytes)
CVSX9.5 ultimate properties.jpg

Hello Trevor,

I would like nothing more but to check the properties on the program but I can't get to the properties. I have no desktop shortcut, except for the shortcut properties and I have nothing to hover over. Maybe that's why Corel said they can't find my VS version. I guess something went wrong when I downloaded it, even though the program works reasonably well. (fingers crossed).

If you have VS X9.5 working, then you must have the vstudio.exe file on your computer in C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio X9 ... It is the command which starts the program, so must be there if you can start VS...

Ok, I found the file. It's not vstudio.exe, but vstudio and it's only 8 mb, but like you said, Ken, it's the one that starts the program so I guess that's it. Anyway in says that it's version 19.5.
The thing that made me wonder about this is that I downloaded X9 Ultimate pro in May and just now they're announcing it's existence. Next time I'll know more about where to look.

Thanks everybody.

P.S. It would be nice if Corel would use some common sense and just make a dialog box that says that "you already have the latest version" instead of saying "we can't find your version of videostudio.
I don't think they take the time to think about the confusion little things like that can create so much confusion.

It is vstudio.exe but does not show up in your system with the full name because you have the filename extension display disabled.

Ok, I didn't know that it was even disabled. I'll find out how to enable it. Thanks for letting me know.
