Scrolling Text with Images/Video
I am trying to create a scrolling text with an image/video below, however I cannot get the text and image to scroll in sync, the text scrolls faster than the image, so the gap between text/image increases as it scrolls up. I have tried decreasing/increasing the length of the text and image but cannot achieve sync. It can be done reasonably easy with PowerDirector.
I can get the first text and image to sync, but having extreme difficulty with subsequent text and image
Anyone tried this with successful syncing ??
The image below shows basically what I am trying to do, keep moving everything around but unable to sync them

Re: Scrolling Text with Images/Video
how are you scrolling the images Robert - -- if you use 'custom motion' you can scroll at any speed at all
if you are using the basic motion then both text and image clips must be exactly the same length to stand a chance of synchronisation

Hi Robert
And if you are still struggling, upload a Smart Package of those three clips.
Like Brian i think Customise Motion is probably the best option?

Re: Scrolling Text with Images/Video
I think one of the reasons why I a am having some issues with this, each image clip and text clip are 5 seconds long, yet in custom motion they are only shown as 4.29 sec. long and I can find no way to change the length, will continue working on it

Re: Scrolling Text with Images/Video
Still having trouble syncing, Smart Package attached, maybe someone can also explain why the first text box shows a different size text to the other text boxes when the set parameters are the same.

Re: Scrolling Text with Images/Video
Robert -- this wasn't by any chance set to NTSC format, was it? I ask since the clock is set to display frames as the final figure. So with NTSC 4:29 is 4 seconds 29 frames, which is just a frame less than 5 seconds...RobertOZ wrote:...each image clip and text clip are 5 seconds long, yet in custom motion they are only shown as 4.29 sec. long and I can find no way to change the length, will continue working on it

Re: Scrolling Text with Images/Video
You are perfectly correct Ken, whilst this is a PAL region, I take all my video as NTSC 60 fps, so just to resolve the sync issue now

Re: Scrolling Text with Images/Video
Hi Robert
I think I misunderstood your reply as fixing the scroll sync, have you managed to improve things?
First you should set the project to the same as your output video, I assume set as 720 x 480 that you are making a NTCS DVD.
If you alter the settings after setting Customise Motion then things may go out of sync.
The position of the text has to be the same as the position of the image, so images having X at -160, the text should have X at -160.
That is assuming all clips are central, same position on screen, clear as mud…..
Using Copy / Paste attributes should work but not all instances of our edits are pasted and can cause issues? (difficult to explain, but things go wrong?) don’t copy and paste from image to text.
I have attached a VSP, Modified with a few options
Download and link to your images.

Re: Scrolling Text with Images/Video
Thanks Trevor, problem resolved, watching your VSP file a few times, I realized what I was doing wrong. The Y position value must be the same for each clip in both plus and minus positions.
I had not previously noted that they were not the same, to be truthful, had not even considered it,
so thanks again
