Video Studio Pro X8 - Crashing on Windows 10

Post by ApremontProd »

Hey all.

My company recent acquired an HP Pavillion notebook computer, which has the 6th gen Intel i7, 12GB RAM, 1TB HDD, Windows 10, nVidia GeForce.

We installed a copy of CVSX8 Pro to the machine, that is our current software that we use. It seems that while working with some video clips (splitting, replaying in the timeline, etc.) Corel will crash. Faulting Module from Event Viewer is c:\windows\system32\igdumdim.dll

We acquried CVSX8 Pro via an online purchase, and it came with the Triple Scoop sampler, as well as the New Blue audio tools. We also have an HP Notebook computer, purchased probably 8 months prior, that has Win 10, 8GB RAM, and CVSX8Pro, and have zero issues (the two notebooks are relatively similar).

I can't seem to find any information on this anywhere, so I turn to you - is there anything in Windows 10 I should look for as to why Corel keeps crashing?

Any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. I would like to seen an answer to this ASAP since this is impacting some video releases that we have.
Thank you!

Have you applied all the various patches and hotfixes to X8 on the new HP? They can be found at http://www.videostudiopro.com/en/suppor ... sion-tab=1 if you have not yet done so.

All hot fixes and service packs have been applied. I'm showing 18.6.0.6 64 bit version. I've also installed the latest Apple QuickTime, and as far as I can tell, all the latest Windows 10 updates have been applied. I've also ran compatibility mode for Corel, ran as administrator, and even Uninstalled and reinstalled.

The latest error I was able to get from Event Viewer is pasted in:

Level Date and Time Source Event ID Task Category
Error 7/31/2016 6:45:03 PM Application Error 1000 (100) "Faulting application name: vstudio.exe, version: 18.4.0.27, time stamp: 0x5654094d

Any further ideas that anyone might have is greatly appreciated.

A follow up... latest Windows updates have been installed. Confirmed all hotfixes and service packs installed. Still crashing, it can be when a video is playing in the time line, even moving a video into the time line, and even saving. Also, we work on videos using USB 3.0 external hdds.

Anyone seen this type of crashing before? It is ruining deadlines for us.

Thank you!

Hi

The faulty file seems to indicate ulspmp4.ax that is referring to mp4.

What type of video files are you using, and are they different to that being used on the second note book?

If you use CVSX8 creating a project using the libraries sample videos, do you have problems.?

When you re-installed X8 did you choose to remove all personal data when uninstalling.?

Can you try re-setting the library from Settings Library Manager – Reset Library.
You may wish to Export Library first to create a backup.

Also reset program by renaming the 18.0 folder.

Looks like the library export, renaming the AppData folder, and reimporting the library worked! Thank you!
