I installed the full version of X8 Ultimate and worked for a week. Now It keeps crashing explorer and can not longer open any folders. Here is the Windows Event Log info.

Corel support still has a case number open and I was provided the Cleanup tool as well as PSPX8SP2 and ran a clean uninstall re-install but NO joy! the problem is exactly the same. If I uninstall PSPX8 everything goes back to normal. I know the fault error points to PSPPThumbShellExt64.dll. I have also performed %tmp% folder clean up as instructed by Corel support. I even ran SFC (system file checker) and found and corrected :******C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\opencl.dll do not match actual file [l:10]"opencl.dll"*****. I went ahead and restored from a clean Win10 backup and did a fresh PSPX8SP2 install but PSPPthmbShellExt64.dll keeps doing the same crashing explorer and generating the event long mentioned above. Previously to all this, I had PSPX5 and never had any problems. I actually bought two licenses to run it at home and at the office and this thing is doing the same thing on both machines.

Return to Corel Support and advise them what you have done. They should give you more assistance.

Re: Corel PaintShop Pro X8 crashes Win10 explorer
So far Corel support has not given me more options to try and have waited three more days and still waiting after my last reply. If this could help speed up the info support process, I have instructed them they can skip the baby steps and get very technical, I can get my way around Windows (MS MCSE for over 20 years and counting). It's why I am writing in this Forum, perhaps someone in the community has bumped into this issue and luckily has found the answer. Trueblue, please let me know how to proceed in this forum.

Re: Corel PaintShop Pro X8 crashes Win10 explorer
for starters i would rename PSPPThumbShellExt64.dll to something else. that should prevent the crashes at least temporarily.

Re: Corel PaintShop Pro X8 crashes Win10 explorer
Thanks flagpole. I can do that or go back to either PSPX3 OR PSPX5 which work perfect. Corel needs to fix this DLL issue.

Re: Corel PaintShop Pro X8 crashes Win10 explorer
The last time this was reported was several years ago by two or three users, and ironically all related to X3. In one case, reinstallation of the program and service packs resolved the issue.
But as I say, the error has not been reported since then and I doubt Corel is going to do anything unless others report the same problem.
