pspx8 (and pspx3) can't handle readonly file at all

Post by Michael REMY »

hi,

i'm pretty surprised because pspx8 have the same low-power leak to not able to save a readonly file picture than my old pspx3.
At least, at the opening it should alert the user of that file attribut limit.

why pspx8 did not ask the user to unprotect the read-only attribut file protection ? many other windows software can do that, even freeware ! but psp can't.
why ?

each time, i have to go into my explorer and change myself the file attribut....what a waste of time in work process.

The question is why do your files have the read-only attribute set? That is not Corel's problem, and refusing to over-write is the right action. You can always "save as..." under a new file name. That's what read-only is all about.

Just because I have time on my hands, I made a Microsoft Word document read-only in Windows Explorer, then opened it in Word. Then I hit the 'Save' button and got the dialog instead of saving. Word told me read-only, so either save under another name or forget it. Which is exactly what a program should do.

You may be confused with the "a document with that name already exists, want to over-write?" dialogue if the file isn't read-only, I don't know. But PSP operates correctly.

So, just use the Windows Explorer, select all the files and undo the read-only before you start editing. Maybe doing it to the folder itself works, I don't know and I have no need to try.

i don't question ter purpose of the ability of a file to be easily read-only protected or not.
what i wanted from PSP is a alert message before i start editing the file (because maybe i work on a bad file) and in the best case, it should offer me the ability to unprotect it (make me a gain of time).

Programs don't give you an alert when you open a read-only file in the program because the tag allows the program to read the file. They only alert you when you try to do something other than reading the file, like trying to save it and overwrite it.
