Hi,

I just now finished downloading the latest VideoStudio Pro X9.5 but I haven't yet attempted to install it. I'd like to know if this latest version will include ALL the previous patches within it.

My currently installed version is VSX9 (64bit Ultimate) - 19.3.0.18 so, I'm wondering if the new update will automatically install the 19.3.0.19 patch (which I have not installed)?

And, will I have to uninstall VideoStudio completely before running the new X9.5 update? There are no complete step-by-step installation instructions anywhere on Corel's site where the updates are located.

Each VS update contains the previous ones.
I'm still with 19.2 as I never rush into things.

two points Old Friend

if you currently have version 19.3.0.18 then you already have SP3 installed (the 3 tells you that) - in fact the worst version of SP3 since the revised one changes the end number to 19

you do not need to uninstall anything - just download and install the patch just as you do with any other service pack - it contains all previous correct updates.

Downloaded 9.5 and what do I get? Muserk!! What a waste of disk space. This voice drones on over all the sound effects in an attempt to force you to buy them. A great program being ruined by this American type selling. Shame on you Corel! Now Brexit has weakened the £, this makes purchase even worse.
I have two CDs of FREE sound effects and this is more than enough for me. Please can anyone advise me of the folder location for Muserk and Triple Scoop so I can release disk space for useful extras.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Don't know where the files are lurking, but at least you can right click on the Muserk and Triple Scoop Music folders within VS and Hide them.

OH! They are well hidden. I just can't find the folders to destroy them completely.

I don't think any of them are on your computer Terfyn - try this - close Videostudio - disconnect your computer from the internet - re-open Videostudio - No Muserk library and no Triple Scoop library

I don't think their on your computer at all

close VS - reconnect internet - open VS there they all are again

if you drag one of the clips from the library down into one of the audio tracks then right click on that and choose "open file location" you will find that a file has appeared in a sub folder of 'C:\Users\Public\Music\Corel VideoStudio Pro' (depending on file selected)

Hi

The TSM and Muserk library files do not appear to be actual audio files but maybe just scripts written to a dll file, somewhere?, but will be small in size

If you add a clip to the timeline it takes a little time to insert as it is creating a sound file (m4a) saved here.
C:\Users\Public\Music\Corel VideoStudio Pro
C:\Users\Public\Music\Corel VideoStudio Pro\Muserk

Now these can be quite large at about 2 Mb per minute duration, and with thousands of samples we could be talking Gb’s

The library folders as we know can be hidden, probably the best option.

Hi Brian
Nice one….
Just read your post, indeed they are internet based, I blocked Video Studio via my Firewall and certainly those annoying audio files do not show.

Thanks Brian and Trevor.
At least they are jamming up a server somewhere else. I bought two CDs of sound effects back in the Hi-8 days and they have followed me through quite a few computer updates. I must admit I don't use them too often.
Around here nature provides plenty of recordable effects with the seaside, rivers, local animals (ever heard a cow cough? - it is horribly human) and the odd thunder storm. As for steam engines - I'm spoilt for choice.
I feel that the most annoying thing about these "extras" is the assumption that we will continue to pay out long after the original programme is purchased. It is reminiscent of some theme parks where you pay an entrance fee and then are forced to pay for every ride or attraction. I can accept one or the other but not both.
Enough "soap box" for one day. 8)

Hi

Well I disagree with Corel’s use of the program as an advertising platform.

If they wish to advertise stick to the Help / Corel Guides or Discovery Center, but not through the programs library, that’s the users workspace.

On a good note they have allowed us to hide the folders

Given the complaints about performance of 9.5 during test, and the desire of Corel to do a microsoft and stuff extra payable music (1st triple scoop and now muserk) into the library much against every user that has commented, I'm not that thrilled about installing the 9.5 upgrade.

For those interested in having machines that perform at least reasonably and don't have unwanted stuff on them, is there anything in favour of the 9.5 upgrade?

Well I just downloaded the update, but after reading all this, I don't think I'll install it. It says there are improvements to some things like stop motion and multi cam, but if it sucks that much, I'll leave it alone until I find out more.

Hi

Well I don’t have a problem with the update other than the TSM and Muserk files, and Corel have allowed us to Hide those folders, besides they are not installed to the hard drive but an internet connection is required, without that they don’t show.

But everything else seems to work ok

More info for new purchases………
Interesting that the latest download for Video Studio is actually the 9.5 version.

Once installed shows the version as 19.5.0.35, no need for any service packs.
