Delete folder contents
Videostudio x9 always loads many folders and contents. Performance seems sluggish and I assume it's because of all the loaded contents. I would like to delete all folders and contents and start anew with a clean spare program with each new project. Can I do this? I have saved each completed video with its name in a VSP file. I can't find info about opening Videostudio without all the folders & contents. Thank you all. Oh I have run the clean up program.

What folders or contents are you talking about?larrygood wrote:Videostudio x9 always loads many folders and contents. Performance seems sluggish and I assume it's because of all the loaded contents. No VSP contains any video whatsoever - it is simply a roadmap on how to create your project. Deleting any folders, etc that are referenced by your project will corrupt your project

Re: Delete folder contents
So I must keep all the folders with their thumbnails? I'm confused where the actual raw video file is other than the MPEG file I end up converting to to end the process. Of course my original avi files (converted from many videotapes) will remain intact, my starting point before editing.
By the way I ran the clean up program and it removed Videostudio x9 and I had to reinstall.
Thanks,
Larry

Re: Delete folder contents
Hi
When we add / insert a video files to the timeline a thumbnail or clip displays the content, we are viewing a virtual clip linked to the video file on our hard drive, for you avi files.
Each video file we add to the timeline is a virtual clip of the original. Eventually our timelines will display many clips, our project, this being our movie.
File -- Save will allow us to save our work as a VSP (Video Studio Project) this is a small file containing the details of the project.
From the library or timeline -- If we right click any / most clips will show “locate on Computer” that will open the folder containing the actual clips. (original avi files) We cannot move/rename or delete these files as they are linked to the project timeline.
Library files
Clips in the library are virtual clips, these can be deleted/removed as they are again virtual clips and will not affect the files on the hard drive, unless we hold Shift + Delete, we will be prompted to delete the file on the hard drive. Clips showing in the library are not part of the project.
To sum up
1 / You can remove any clips from the library without affecting the project.
2 / Removing clips from the hard drive will cause a re-link if those clips are being used in the library or timelines.
So which thumbnails and or folders are you wishing to remove.

This is used to uninstall the program and as mentioned here I use if Windows Uninstaller does not work?
