I'm curious about the best way to add text to a video in some clips. I'm making a tutorial video and I want to explain how to do certain things here and there. I already tried the subtitle editor and I never want to use it again! If you make a mistake it's almost impossible to correct and you have to play around with the timeline, hoping to get lucky enough to get rid of it. (that dreaded orange line)!
Can I just insert titles here and there within the video instead? I was trying to use the subtitle editor but you can only add text to the bottom but I want to put the text anywhere in some video clips like you can do with regular titles.
I hope this all makes sense. I will never use subtitles again, so I need to find another way.
Thanks.
What is the best way to add text to video?

Yes just use ordinary titles - any where you want throughout the video - then just size them and put them any where you want on screen - title do not have to fill the screen

The best way is to learn how to use the tool. the tool might have few variants and each will be the best if you try it and learn.

Re: What is the best way to add text to video?
Thanks. I've used regular titles before and they worked fine but I just wanted to try the subtitle editor because there seems to be such a bid deal about it. But after seeing a pretty good video on it, I have it pretty well understood, but in a hurry, I'll just use regular titles.
Also, that is the best way to learn sometimes is by just playing around with it. But I found out many times that VS is not very forgiving if you make a mistake.
Thank you both very much.
