Softlight Brush Problem Since install of PaintShopProX8_SP2

Since installing PaintShopProX8_SP2.exe the softlight paint brush does not work. When used it produces lines not even in the chosen colour. I uninstalled then reinstalled... worked fine until PaintShopProX8_SP2.exe was installed...... please any help would be appreciated.

Softlight paint brush? A little more information would help.

To explain further..... when I choose paint brush tool and then under "blend mode" choose the softlight brush all I get are vertical lines.... no matter what color I choose, except white, which for some reason seems to work..... I did discover late last night that if I promote to background layer as soon as I open a photo that it then works.... I never had to do this before the install of "SP2"
I hope this clarifies this issue I am having....

I have just tested this with PSPX7 and X8. I get the same behavior as the OP with X8. X7 seems to work fine without promoting the background layer.
