Videostudio Ultimate Pro X9 is very unstable

Post by rkstudio »

I find that Ult. X9 is very, very unstable. Even with this new computer I have with windows 10. I was using the program today for about a half hour and out of the blue, it said there was a problem with the program and it's going to shut down. So I restarted the program and it did it again right away. Then again, right away. So I was unable to use it until I did that "Troubleshoot Compatibility process. Now it seems to be ok. SOOOOOOOOO touchy!!!
It's the only program I have problems with like that.

Every time use Ult. X9 it has some kind of problems. They're in such a hurry to make more money with the new versions, that they don't spend the time to fix the present ones first.

I'll echo the sentiment that X9 is very stable for me. It is installed on a desktop running Win 7 (the one on the right) and installed on a Win 10 laptop; both computers up to date with Microsoft updates. I have not had any issues with instabilities and I use it frequently to create video stories with filters, titles, music, trims, cuts, etc and it renders fast on my admittedly fast computers.

I have just started to encounter a similar problem.
While working the program will freeze for about a minute like it is processing. Task manager reports that it is working and using about 16% which is no big deal as it runs easily at 90-100% while doing things like saving a large video file. No work is lost and when it starts again it picks up just where it left off. It will happen often if I click on a clip in the top right pane and/or if I open a different window to check email etc. for a moment. When I come back to Corel it might fail to respond as I said for about a minute.
I'm using Corel Video Studio X9. Windows 10. I have 16 Gb ram. 1 T hard drive with a ton of free space. 3.2 Gh. No other programs are giving trouble. Theoretically all Windows and Corel updates are done. Did not have this with X6.
The question is what is causing these "time outs"
Daryl.

My guess is that Page memory is being flushed and reloaded into real memory when you make another program active. Look how much memory I have, and I also have an SSD drive where my page memory resides and this makes my system be more responsive.

Hi

does the problem occur when clicking / selecting any clip or is it particular ones.

If you have imported your own clips to the library, where are they stored on the pc.?

I have clips saved to different drives other than C drive, sometimes takes a while to wake the drive, but several seconds not minutes?
