X9 not making proxy files for 4K clips

Post by Philm5d »

I've restarted this topic as I've had quite a gap since last posting during which Corel have been trying their hardest to sort this problem for me culminating in an hour's phone conversation with a very nice techie guy in Canada who remotely looked at my computer (I am in the UK). From what I understand he removed older versions of VS and reinstalled VS9 from scratch and updated the video graphics driver. The latter took a long time to download so he signed off and left me to it. Regrettably the result after all this was no different - choppy playback of 4K camcorder clips due to no proxy files created - I should add that HD clips are fine and VS makes proxies OK of them.
During the discourse I thought I understood from the Corel guy that my graphics processing was, possibly, not up to the job. Now as I'm 100 years old (feel it today), I'm not so technical and I thought he mentioned that the graphics were integrated but I see I actually have a graphics card installed.
The card installed is a GeForce GTX-650, so my question is could this be the source of my lack-of-4k-proxy file creation? I really, really hate to mention it but I tried a trial version of Magix on the same PC and had perfect playback however I want to use my VS and not start learning a new program. Could the graphics card be the source of the problem? If so what spec card do I need? Any thoughts appreciated.

Hi, No I don't think the GPU driver has anything to do with it.
Same as I don't think older VS's are the culprit, many users here still have 2,3,4,5 VS's on board.

Unfortunately "update" drivers is the #1 help guys answer to 90% of the problems but it's BS.

Since when you noticed the problem? before the recent SP3 update or after?
Are you realy running VISTA?

I bought VS9 after buying a 4K camcorder and the problem was there from the start. Installing the SPs made no difference. Previously I had VS7 which was great however no 4K capability. I'm actually running Windows 7 home premium - I don't know why it shows Vista on my profile - I've changed it. Thanks for pointing that out. Here's what the problem is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZVDSnb ... e=youtu.be
By the way the VS9 usually throws up a Windows error box and "has to close" almost every time I start it - may not be connected.

Well,
first thing I noticed is that your 4K video is 30fps but all your other settings are for 25fps.
If you shoot 30fps, edit in 30 and only at the end you should render to 25.

Yes I made the mistake in shooting 30 fps instead of 25 in the example, however footage shot in 25 has the same problems.
