use stills and video together

Post by Shutterbug »

I want to buy Video Studio 9, I make DVD slideshows that include video clips. Can you combine stills and video clips in the same project. I tried e-mailing the sales dept and have not been able to get an answer and I am tired of waiting. :  I am presently using roxio and like it, however, it seems ulead has some interesting applications. Could someone help me? I have the movie wizard and you don't seem to be able to combine the two medias. Than you in advance...............Shutterbug

Thank you for your quick reply, while I was waiting, I went through some of the topics and noticed that some people are having problems with Windows Media Player 10, I am alway nervous when I hear that there are compatibility problems with normal run of the mill software. Is there a problem with Windows Media Player 10?

I have not had any probelms with WMP 10 since intstalling VS8 and now VS9, remember there is no need for me, or any of thousands of others, to post that they have had no problem! Download the trial version and see what happens.

I haven't had any problems viewing with Windows Media Player 10.
Though I normally use Power DVD to view AVI's and MPEGs on my computer.

Going back to your original question, yesterday I used a still image on the main track, and kept it on display for some 30 seconds, whilst on the overlay track I moved a video across the picture (picture in picture style).

Sometimes I may be doing a holiday video, and to "freeze" a nice view, I drop in a still from my digital camera.

Thanks everyone for your responses, it really has helped. I think I will download the trial software and give it a shot. I love these forums, as I stated in the first post, I am using Roxio now and have enjoyed their forum, I learn alot, not only about the software, but tricks in doing different things. What a wonderful teaching tool. Thank you again, hopefull I won't have to be asking too many questions after getting the download.................

I just made an awesome movie of my cruise/vacation with a combination of stills and video. I'm also excited about the new camera I ordered this morning.

My old digital camera is about four years old. There have been many changes in the past few years with these cams. I just ordered a new point and shoot camera, a Casio EX-Z750. I read lots of user reviews, and almost everyone who has bought this camera really loves it.

Hey CalifDude,

I resently bought that one myself and love it. I still love my older camera, not old, just 1-1/2 years, but it is larger and there are some instances that I need a small one. The telephoto on the older one is more powerful and great, but you will really like the Casio, the videos are far better then my other one, it gave you .mov files that I found definately not the quality, but better then nothing. Congrads...............I am looking forwrd to trying out Studio 9.......Thanks again.
