I am currently using a trial version of X8 and bought the boxed software.
Can I enter the key in the trial software that I received when I purchased the software to license it?
If so, where and how?

My suggestion is to uninstall the trial version and then install the boxed version. Enter the number included with the boxed version. Once installed the program will ask you to enter the number. Make sure you register it online with Corel once installed.

I would have to agree. Experience has taught us the perils of simply activating trial versions. In any case, I suspect you would find that the SN/key of a packaged version differs very slightly from a downloaded version SN/key. So you would probably not be able to use your package SN in any case.
