Hotfix 1 was just released on 6 July 2016, here is Corel's description:
Hotfix 1 is now available for AfterShot 3. This hotfix resolves a pink hue issue (observed when adjusting Highlights or Exposure).
I'm wrestling with other problems (see GradFilterPro Preset thread) and had not gotten around to dealing with highlights. Nevertheless, I installed the hotfix, hoping to fix my own problem... it didn't.
However, the hotfix further broke the software. I'm not a pro, so feel free to bash me, but here is what my eyes are telling me. Note the clouds right off the edge of the upper cliff. Prior to this hotfix, they were perfectly exposed (NEF File from Nikon D5100). Now, when selecting the image, the highlights are overexposed. Huh? Then I noticed the histogram. Look at what has been artifically cranked... the green highlight.
Did Corel simply do this so that the pink issue would be neutralized by the artificial green they are introducing into the highlights? If I'm correct, this is beyond bad, it's corrupt!
Proceed with extreme caution if planning to install Hotfix 1. Save your original ASP3 install file, you'll likely want to go back to it. Better yet, go find something that actually works.
ASP3 Hotfix 3.0.0.148 is a joke right?

in the screenshot HR is off, so the tool is inactive.
despite that the new Highlight Recovery needs some adjustments - both in values as in approach.
i am still trying to settle on how much to lower the settings of HR in my ASP1 files before transitioning them over to ASP3.
currently leaning towards dropping them 40 to 60 units.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I was aware it was off. The point is, my image displayed that green spike in the histogram after I "upgraded" to the hotfix. It wasn't there prior to the hotfix. Where did it suddenly come from?
So my theory is, knowing that people were complaining about the HR skewing pink, Corel simply spiked it with some green so that when people reduced the highlights, it would be closer to neutral. What other reason can you think of why suddenly a green spike appeared?
And of course it completely corrupted my image by intentionally overexposing an otherwise correctly exposed image, now forcing me to use HR when it was never necessary in the first place.
Either they are crazy, or I am!

i get where your anger comes from, but i dont feel it myself because HR is default on in every picture i process. why? because exactly what you discovered now: the difference between HR off and on was always too much. it just became a little more pronounced.
so excuse me if i shrug my shoulders, i have been working around this for years. =)
my tip: just set HR always to anything else but 0 (zero) and work from there.
