MIDI files - How can I use them?

I'm new to this and am trying to add music to my movie, but am unable to add a .mid file to my audio library. What can I do? Please help

There are so many programs that convert midi files to mp3 or wav files. Just go to download.com and do a search, many of those are shareware. I recently converted a "benny hill" music clip to mp3 format and the quality came out very good.
