Below are the cut and paste instructions for adjusting white balance... but for the life of me I do not see a Smart White Balance check box to mark or select. I do see the two sliders though. Any help please? PaintShop ProX8 x64
1 Choose Adjust White Balance.
The White Balance dialog box appears.
2 Mark the Smart White Balance check box.
This allows Corel PaintShop Pro to evaluate and make minor corrections to the image automatically.
3 Drag the temperature slider to the left for cooler colors (more blue), or to the right for warmer colors (more orange).
4 Click OK.
Thanks
Barry

Re: Where is the Smart White Balance check box?
This is for X7, I'm assuming that x8 is the same.
When you choose Adjust/White balance, it opens up a dialogue.
A 'short dialogue' has one slider and two check boxes: Advanced Options and Smart White Balance. I think this is the dialogue you are referring to.
If you check the Advanced Options box, the dialogue is expanded, more sliders (4) and advanced options including a Smart Select button. The Smart White Balance check box disappears.
The next time you select White Balance the last chosen dialogue box appears. (Or you reset the workspace). So if you uncheck Advanced Options you should get the simpler dialogue.
Please ignore if X8 is very different.

Re: Where is the Smart White Balance check box?
Thanks guys for the reply, but... I do not see those items you talk about. "A 'short dialogue' has one slider and two check boxes: Advanced Options and Smart White Balance". This simply does not appear for me so I cannot select either. No check boxes at all. When I select the Adjust tab, then on the left side select white balance I see exactly two sliders and ONLY two sliders. One is for temperature which ranges from cooler to warmer and defaults at 5000. (There is an up and down number selection box also). The other slider is for tint which ranges from green to purple (which defaults at 0). No amount of left or right clicking on the words or in the white balance area brings in any other selection boxes, sliders etc.
Don't know if it makes a difference but I have Corel PaintShop Pro X8 18.2.0.61 x64. PaintShop Pro Build Information: Build Date Saturday, April 16, 2016 @ 01:16:52
Build Mode Release (12000004)
I get the same results with the 32bit version.
Thanks again, Barry

Re: Where is the Smart White Balance check box?
The instructions in your original post are for the White Balance adjustment found in the Edit tab (not Adjust tab), menu Adjust/ White Balance...
If you want automatic white balance under the Adjust tab, start with Smart Photo Fix and click on something that should be white, gray or black, according to the instructions at the bottom of the Smart Fix area on the left. Then you can choose White Balance and adjust some more with the sliders.
I guess PSP Help descriptions are for the Edit tab options, not so much for the Adjust tab. All the options under the Adjust tab are available under the Edit tab menus, plus many many more. You could make a Custom palette or menu in the Edit tab to duplicate the Adjust workflow if you like, and enhance it.

Re: Where is the Smart White Balance check box?
The devil being in the details, this added detail makes all the difference because now we know that you were speaking of the white balance control on the Adjust Tab, not White Balance under the Adjust menu item of the Edit tab. If you want to use white balance with the check boxes you have to use the dialogue in the Edit tab.bjtap wrote:When I select the Adjust tab, then on the left side select white balance I see exactly two sliders and ONLY two sliders.

Re: Where is the Smart White Balance check box?
Boy I really must be thick. Okay, despite the fact the original instructions say: 1 Choose Adjust White Balance. I will go for the fact that is not what it means literally. So I go to the edit tab. I now select Quick Adjustments then select the Smart Photo Fix and indeed there is a check box called white balance. It is selected. I still do not see "A 'short dialogue' has one slider and two check boxes: Advanced Options and Smart White Balance".
What I do see is brightness with 3 sliders, saturation, focus, the check box for white balance, followed by a black and white slider.
Please tell me exactly how to get to the 'advanced options' and 'smart white balance' check boxes.
Please forgive my 'thickness'.

Re: Where is the Smart White Balance check box?
That would be the menu Adjust/White Balance... option under the Edit tab, not Smart Photo Fix.
Both of those options have a more or less "smart" part, where you can click on a colour that should be white/grey/black so PSP can adjust accordingly.
In Adjust/White balance advanced options you can use the bottom two sliders to further fine tune.
