Thanks Ken. I see this is your first response to my issue. I wondered if you had the chance to read my entire thread and wondered if you had any other thoughts or suggestions to my problem.
Thanks again.

Mark, it seems that you are on your own with this, nobody else can replicate your problem, have you reinstalled VSX9 again yet
How long ago did you purchase the Blu-ray plugin, you would have received an email with a link to download, did you save it, (which by the way you should) the link may still be active.
Whenever you purchase any program, you should ALWAYS copy and store on DVD or external drive

Mark

The Bluray file is called…

VideoStudioX9_Blu-ray.exe
at 4,626Kb is quite small.

Did you find that file as Kens post.

And as Robert says you should save all your program downloads along with serial numbers to a safe location.
I save to a separate internal drive as well as an external drive. I have also burnt the files to disc as a further backup.

We did suggest you re-install, I had thought you had done that?

Let us know how you get on.

Hello
I uninstalled VS6 and VS9.
Restarted my machine.
Installed VS9.
Reinstalled BluRay plug-in.

Only issue i am having is when I wanted to import my library content, I get an error which says:

"File Import Error: File Version is Illegal"

I exported the library as advised. Saved it in a folder before uninstalling VS9.
I clicked: Settings--->Library Manager-->Import Library

I pointed it at the folder which contained the data. And yes, there are files in the folder.

Can you help with this error?

I have not tried the program to see if my original problem was resolved.

Thank you

An additional note to the above post.
I also backed up my VS6 library before uninstalling VS6. I did so in the exact same way I
backed up my VS9 library.
When I attempted to restore the backed up VS6 library in VS9 it worked. But sadly...
I need the elements in the VS9 library. They are part of my two hour presentation I'm working
on for my family on Christmas Eve. Something I've been doing for the last 10-15 years. I've lost
count.
Anyway.... Thank you in advance. And thanks for being patient with me.

Hi Mark

You should try your program to see if the problem has been fixed before importing the library.
If its ok then update the library, if the problem returns then the library is causing the issues?

After installing X9 did you allow the program to update SP3

I assume SP3 was installed when you Exported the library, the Import process may be looking for that version? (19.3.0.22)

You have not lost any of those "elements" -- what you see in your library panel are just shortcuts pointing to your actual files - they are NOT the actual files - everything you used and need is still on your computer

open your project in X9 and you will see it open all the elements and put them in the timeline

could you also note that you are using X9 and X6 - that is versions 19 and 16 - 6 and 9 are very ancient and if you are indeed using those then we need to change our advice

Hello again

I have updated my reinstall. I was finally able to import my saved X9 library. Thanks for the help on that. However
with being away and other life consuming Issues I have not had the time to see if the reinstall has solved my original
issue.
Working on that Friday.
Thanks for your help so far.

Hello

thank you for your patience. I have reinstalled the program as per your advice and I removed older editions of the program. However my original problem still persists.

It seems once I drop a photo or video clip into the time line, the program wants to keep the time line end length constant and will shorten or lengthen surrounding clips to fulfill that! It is so frustrating. For example.... and to make it easy to calculate here...If the working end time of my video is say...is 60 seconds. I want to shorten ...let's say a photo in the time line from 3 seconds to 2 seconds, the total run time should now be 59 seconds. However the program keeps the total run time to 60 seconds by automatically extending the adjacent photo or video clip by a second (the second I trimmed off that photo)!! How can I turn this off?

My project is actually an hour long and will probably be 2 hours by the time I am done in December. It is so far into the project that I do not want to start over.

Please help!

Thank you!

Mark

I experimented with a new project. and this does not happen in my experimental project! All good. But....what can be causing this to happen in my existing 1 hour project? a transition? a photo or video? or perhaps a setting

Hi Mark

I have tried many things to try to replicate your problem, you have now tried to replicate that in a new project and it seems to be associated with your original project.

For us to go further we need to work with your project, that means creating a smart package, zip and upload to a sharing site, DropBox. Google, OneDrive etc.
Then we can view the actual project, I realise that could be quite large, the size in Gb may stop you uploading????

Are you able to reduce the length of the project to reduce the size and still retain the problem.
Create copies of the project by File Save As, then cut down the project.
You may even find the offending clip / clips whilst reducing the project length.

I think I'm going to go through my project and concentrate on the transitions. I'll pull each one
and see if there's one that is causing this situation. I did use the multi camera feature for one
Segment. Wonder if that's it. Took me a long time tho to put it together.
We will see. Thanks again for your input here. I'll report back.

You don't have to experiment with your actual project - with your project in the timeline do a "File >> Save as" and give it a different name - this will create an exact duplicate of your project to experiment with - always knowing that if you hit an un-surmountable problem while experimenting you always have an untouched project to continue with

Hi Mark

Its Multi Camera Editing that is adding frames to the adjacent clip.

During beta testing it was suggested that when camera angles were applied it was difficult to fine tune the cut point as adding or removing frames affected the audio sync.
The suggestion to trim / affect both adjacent clips would overcome that.

As far as I know this was not implemented with the release version of X9, it may have been applied with the X9.5 update.

Certainly editing MCE projects does affect both clips.

it would be nice if Corel could tell its users just what effect service packs have on the program..............
I'll do a few more tests...

Re: VS X9 Time Line Problem-SOLVED?

Post by mark9422 »

After playing with the time line for a while I decided to remove all the segments which were created with the Multi Camera Editor. Problem solved. Program behaves normally. It does not extend or reduce (in time) any adjacent clip when editing a clip(say a photo) for time duration. (like shortening a photo from 3 seconds to 2 seconds) However, the segment which was created with the Multi Camera Editor is complicated and is a must have in my project. I did not save the changes to the project though so my original is still in tact. What to do? This portion of the movie (the one created with the Multi Camera Editor) is right in the middle of the time line.

Also to note here...before discovering the Multi Camera Editor clips were at fault, I noticed too that clips (photos) which had Pan and Zoom attached behaved normally. Meaning ...if I edited a pan and zoom clip for time (shortening the clip), the program behaved normally...it did not extend any adjacent clips. While editing non pan and zoom clips for time (shortening them) always added the time shortened to the adjacent clip.

Suggestions on what to do about the MCE portion of my movie?

thank you for bearing with me!

Mark
