OK I've had a chance to get back to this problem. As per your suggestion I uninstalled X8 and then only reinstalled the 'main' program. Even running the just the main program without 'bonus' and 'contents' installed I am still getting the 'burnstar.dll' error followed by the 'relink' error. Beats me.lata wrote:Hi Guys

If you install the main program only it should run on Windows 10, otherwise install Hotfix 2, do you have problems.
Then install the Contents pack, run the program, now do you have problems.
Now install the Bonus pack for the ultimate version.
Finally install SP3.
The original Corel VideoStudio X8 Service Pack 3 did have SWF issues, have you downloaded the latest version from :-

I do not know what else to suggest here but I will bring this post to the attention of Corel Support.

When you uninstalled VSX8 did you check "Save Preferences" if you did then the relink problem is due to the program trying to find content which is not there, in this situation, install the Contents Pack which should fix the relink problem.
If you launch FastFlick do you also get the BurnStarR.dll error

Re: X8 Ultimate .swf 'file format mismatch'?
Thanks Robert, no I made sure not to save preferences when I uninstalled it, fastflick launches OK. I only get the problem with the 'flash animation' files and only with X8, they seem to work OK with X7. Will try updating flash (again) just in case.
Updated flash to the latest, problem still exists. I might suggest that he simply uses X7 if he ever wants to use flash animations.

When you uninstalled VSX8 did you use the VSX8 Cleanup Tool, Try this, then after uninstalling search your computer and remove any folders referring to VSX8, then try installing again

Re: X8 Ultimate .swf 'file format mismatch'?
Hi
I have tried in vain to replicate the problem,
I have reinstalled X8 applying the Service Packs in turn from the Windows Hot fix, SP1, then SP2.
Continued through all updates and could not replicate.
The error message shows QtBridge32.exe as the faulty file, have you tried replacing the X8 version with X7 version?
This is the version I have installed using X8

Re: X8 Ultimate .swf 'file format mismatch'?
Thanks for that, tried to install qtbridge from your file but got 'the program can't start because uipp.dll is missing from your computer'. Did a search for uipp.dll and there are three of them on the system, one for X7 and 2 for X8. Weird.

Re: X8 Ultimate .swf 'file format mismatch'?
I am having this issue too. I have tried all the suggestions here but none of them work... The odd one is when I try to add the files back to the library I get file type mismatch...
Very frustrating... I can not even open smart packages saved by Video studio if there are swf files in them... Please fix this.....

Yeah I gave up. X8 works OK as long as he doesn't want to use flash animations, if he does then he has to use X7. It's a workaround but not a perect one.

Re: X8 Ultimate .swf 'file format mismatch'?
I personally like the comment about there is a deal on vsx9 right now... Why would anyone buy x9 when they can't fix x7 or x8?

Re: X8 Ultimate .swf 'file format mismatch'?
Hi
Clutching at straws here guys….
When the first SWF problem arose just after the Windows Update episode, Corel were working hard on a solution and provided us with some hot fixes which seemed to work, once confirmed ok they were incorporated in fixes / service packs, so the problems should be solved.
I have searched my e-mails for anything that may help.
This is one comment that stood out:-
Uninstalling Updates Kb3126587 and Kb3126593 allows me to select the SWF clips.
The Hot Fixes should have sorted that?
One fix was to add a line to the GGAppi.ini file.
The file opens in Note Pad, you may have to change the user permissions to edit this file.
I would suggest making a copy of the file as a backup before changing the details.
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X8\Ulead.dat
Edit program folder\ulead.dat\GGApp.ini
[FLASHVIO]
ForceUsingBridge=1
That entry also seemed to work.
As that file seems to be associated with SWF this is what I see in the FlashVio section.
You can compare with your files details, note the ForceUsingBridge=1 is not showing?
I would have thought if there is a difference then one or more service packs have not been installed
[FLASHVIO]
;LOCKVERSION=version number of flash player ;defalut value is 0x00070013
;LOCKVERSION=0x00070013 ;use flash player 7
;LOCKVERSION=0x0009001b ;use flash player 9
;LOCKVERSION=0x000A000C ;use flash player 10 (Flash10a.ocx)
LOCKVERSION=0x00000000 ;use current flash player installed in system
PRIVATEOCXPATH=VIO\FLASH\Flash10a.ocx
Oh I am now running windows 10, previously Windows 7, but no problems with SWF in either X8 or X9.
