Hi guys
Back in March I raised this query and was advised to delete windows updates KB3134814, 3126587 and 3126593. This I did and the programme then opened.
Since then I have sent my PC off to repair and took the opportunity of 'upgrading' from a 32 bit system (W7) to a 64 bit system and yesterday reinstalled VS Pro X6 once again.
When it did not open I recalled the previous advice and again deleted those 3 updates but after a reboot my VS programme still will not open.
Have there been any other windows updates that might have affected this programme, should it run ok on 64 bits?
If I give up on VS Pro 6 and purchase a newer version can I be sure this problem will not recur?
Many thanks
Mark

towards the end of this topic - - http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=58668 - many users found that renaming / replacing the MUI Helper file cured their problems with Videostudio not starting - might be worth you reading that topic and trying it
no guarantees with any alternatives I am afraid but most users do not seem to have problems with later versions after the respective hotfixes were applied
I have found X9 runs happily on Windows 10 (others are using Win 7 and Win
- providing you do not install service pack 3

Re: Unable to open VS Pro X6 again
Until today, I was running VS X5, X6, X7, X8 and X9 on Win 7 Pro having uninstalled KB3140410, KB3126587, and KB3126593. However replacing the MUIhelper.dll file in X5 and X6 with the X7 MUIhelper.dll file allows these versions to start without the need to remove and hide KB3140410, KB3126587 and KB3126593 (see http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 1&p=325080).markpritch wrote:If I give up on VS Pro 6 and purchase a newer version can I be sure this problem will not recur?
I've now updated to Win 10 Pro and VS X5, X6, X7, X8 and X9 are all running fine based on limited testing.
All that being said, I'd suggest purchasing VS X9 based on the $15 offer available when you close X6. If you do that then for the time being, I'd stay at VS X9 SP2 until it is clear that the issues with SP3 have been resolved.
