[SOLVED] [PSP9] How to draw trapezoid rectangle?

Post by Shohreh »

Hello

I need to draw a rectangle, and then change its shape into a trapezoid that would look like this (with sharp ends):

If I select the Edit Mode, it does display nodes, but pulling them only rounds the four ends.

Is there a way to do this in PSP9?

Thank you.

Edit: Found it by chance:
  1. Draw rectangle
  2. Right-click anywhere, and select Convert to path
  3. Change shape by pulling nodes
  4. Hit CTRL-D to exit edit mode

When I draw a rectangle in PSP9 and go to Edit mode and drag the corners to make a trapezoid I do not get rounded corners as you do. The corners are sharp. Are you sure you don't have Rounded Rectangle selected on the rectangle selection options toolbar? Also, I don't get the jaggy sides to the rectangle that your picture shows, so there seems to be something else that you are not doing correctly when drawing the rectangle or using Edit.

With the rectangle tool is odd in this way. When you drag the corners there are actually two different icons that can appear. One is a black icon that will indeed round the corners. the other is a white icon that will simply move the corner. Of course the rectangle edit mode won't allow for trapezoids. If you want a trapezoid while keeping the rectangle a rectangle use the pick tool to deform the object. It's perspective distortion mode will get you the trapezoid you want.

As for the jagged edges, keep in mind vectors can be resized without losing quality but the final render is dependant on the resolution of the image. So the same vector may look jagged when on a smaller image, and smooth on a larger image. Of course they could also have anti-aliasing turned off.

There's a simpler explanation: I simply googled for an image that looked like what I meant. It was obviously not drawn in PSP since my inability of drawing such a shape was the very reason why I asked the question in the first place :-D
