VS X9 not displaying under win10

G'Day I've upgraded to x9 ultimate from x8 ultimate which stopped working under the win 10 upgrade. I am getting the same result with x9. I've installed the sp3 but the program gets no further than the splash screen. Task manager tells me the program is running but no UI is present. The win security updates from Feb do not show up on my computer. I am at a complete loss as to what has gone wrong. I have uninstalled and reinstalled but no go. Thanks for any help.

As far as I know X8 is compatible with Windows 10, so if you are having problems with both versions I would suspect it be your setup.
Certainly seems a common problem with X8 and X9

I do not have Windows 10 so cannot even try to replicate the issue.
I assume you purchased the download version and not the Boxed / Disc version.

CVSX9 download did not originally suffer from the windows update problems although some users did eventually have issues.
The download version should run without any Service Packs installed.


One thought on installing on Windows 10 you may need internet connection to register the program.
Using the Edge browser may cause problems, can you restore Internet Explorer to see if that gets past the splash screen.

Otherwise try turning your internet "off", then boot video studio, should give the option to register later? And may allow the program to run, works for some programs.

Edge has nothing to do with it. I use Edge on a daily basis and have made it my default browser. That being said, I have never opened IE which nonetheless lurks somewhere still on all my Win 10 computers. But "restoring" IE, whatever that means in the context of Win 10, is not going to change anything...

Sorry it doesn't help you Simon but I have all versions from 9 (yes nine - ten versions ago) all working under windows 10 with no problem at all - pre service pack 3 it was running faultlessly and I do not use Internet Explorer

have you tried RIGHT clicking on Vstudio.exe in C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio X9 and choosing "Troubleshoot compatibility" and seeing what that tells you

Hi

It was just a thought regarding the web browser, but has Simon made Edge his default browser? if not then maybe VS is looking for IE?
When we first launch Video Studio we are shown a registration panel, that is via the internet, if there is a problem with the internet that panel may not show and we go no further. Given that it is both programs I would think its Simons pc settings rather than Video Studio.

It could of course be the firewall, just clutching at straws, thinking of what could cause the problem?

Windows 10 loads up Internet Explorer any rate and no matter what browser you normally use if a programme needs internet explorer then it will open and use it - regardless of your default browser

G'Day I do not use edge as my browser I have Opera and Firefox. I tried without firewall and antivirus turned off. The program is registered and activated. I have used Video Studio since it was Ulead media studio pro. and have never had any problems. I have been using this particular platform since X7.
