After I enter text and click on the apply button my text goes weird/hazy and I do not get the box around the text.
Followed a lot of u tube tutorials but I simply can't even get to save the file with text in it. What am I doing wrong.

1) Make sure the "Create As" text box is set to "Vector" and not "Floating" or "Selection".
Floating creates a raster (pixel only) version of your text and puts it on a floating selection layer. the edges will get those "marching ants" to show the selection. Selection just creates a selection in the shape of the text, but no actual pixel or visual data is kept. To be able to constantly go back in and edit the text and keep it as text, you must create it as a vector.
2) When you save out the image, save it as a PaintShop Pro Image format. That is the only format that supports vector text saving from PaintShop Pro.

I am also having a problem with my text.
When working with layers I am changing the information on documents supplied to me and trying to type my information in. The text types out like outlined text. How do I change it back to normal text.
Thank you
JosephZ

Re: Text problem photoshop x8
All text has an outline or "stroke" color and a "Fill" color. The foreground color on the materials palette refers to the stroke. The Background color refers to the Fill or font color. Enter Edit mode for the text, highlight the text, and then change the background color on the materials palette. This will fill it in. If you don't want the stroke then you can set the "Stroke" width parameter on the Tool Options Palette to Zero. Or you can match the foreground color to the background color so you don't know the stroke is there.

Here is a suitable video that shows use of the text tool:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gnw3U1iwMYc
Note that PSP is more efficient with text than Photoshop in that you can have filled and outlined/ stroked text in one action. In photoshop you choose the fill color and do your text and then have to choose your stroke color and go back and stroke your text. In PSP you can choose to have a stroked outline text, just filled text or both and apply in one operation.
