Hello Folks,
My project is to create a standard 4.7gb dvd-r with 8 titles from 8 mpg files, none of the titles have chapters or subtitles.
I have a static menu from a small jpg file. There is no music, no moving menus, no subtitles. All very simple.
I've put my 8 mpg files into a project, they add up to approx 3.8gb, and all is well until I get to menu creation, which shows 2 or 3 titles per menu page. I want a single static main menu page, with 8 buttons or 8 icons or 8 text labels, so that I can select any one of the 8 titles to play, from the main menu page. I cannot find any option to change the number of titles on the main menu.
How can I do this please?
Thanks
N

Re: DMF v6 and v7 - Need 8 titles on main menu
Hi coopern
And welcome to the forums…
I do not have Movie Factory installed but use Video Studio, as far as I know a similar authoring program, we can customise Thumbnail menus to have upto 8 titles. (maybe 9 ?) achieved via the “Layout”.
Indeed the user guide for MF6 mentions a similar process, obviously I do not know if 8 are available but would think so?
Customizing menu templates from
MF6 User Guide
Ulead DVD MovieFactory allows you to customize and create your own menu
templates for easy application to your current and future movie projects.
To create your own menu template:
1. Click Customize in the Edit tab of the Select a template to create
menu (Step 2/3) page to open the Customize Menu dialog box.
2. Select Frame, Navigation Button, or Layout in the drop down menu to
display the associated preset thumbnails.
Hope this helps.

Thanks.
I'm using a trial version of dmf6, which I thought was fully functional for 30 days.
In edit/customize menu the 'layout' and 'frame' options are not available in the drop down list, only the 'navigation' option is there.

Thanks.
I've tried dmf7 as well and the max number of titles in the preset menu's is 6, which it seems cannot be changed.
Maybe dmf8 will allow 8 titles??!!

Re: DMF v6 and v7 - Need 8 titles on main menu
There will not be a MF8. Corel have made it pretty clear that they have dropped Movie Factory as a product. MF 7 is already quite a few years old. All video editing development has gone into Video Studio which uses the same burning engine that MF does.coopern wrote:Maybe dmf8 will allow 8 titles??!!

Hi
As far as I know Movie factory uses the same type of menu files as Video Studio, UFO files.
Rjkok67 has provided quite a few menu templates available from his one drive.

They may have far to many thumbnails starting with 20.
But if you can import these, not sure which folder holds the menu files, but if similar to Video Studio would be here.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X4\Content\Menu Template\16x9\Scene Button
Maybe a similar location for MF?
It may be easier to update your movie editor to CVSX9?

try searching the MF installation folder for UFO files.

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: DMF v6 and v7 - Need 8 titles on main menu
Thanks for that lata. It does work (in DMF6) by giving me 8 titles on one main menu.
I looked into editing your ufo and ini files to make them more suited to my project, but it is not a simple thing to do.
ps. The reason i'm sticking with dmf6 is that it will author my mpg files without re-encoding and without any loss of quality.

Re: DMF v6 and v7 - Need 8 titles on main menu
Hi
Video Studio has the option to customise menus, choosing frames layout of the thumbnails etc.
We can also change the background image / video or select different audio. I would have thought MF would be able to do some if not all of that.
I have just read the MF6 Manual.pdf and can customise menus.
Whether the layout can do 8 thumbnails, but would have thought so
Extract from manual…………
Editing menu templates
You can modify your menu template by selecting various options on the Edit tab.
• Background music Opens a menu of options for selecting or deleting audio
files used as background for your menus.
• Motion menu Sets the duration for the moving elements in the menu. See
“Using motion menus” for more details.
• Background image/video Opens a menu of options for selecting or deleting
image or video files used as backgrounds for your menus. When you choose a
video as menu background for your VCD or SVCD project, however, only the
first frame of the video will be set as the menu background.
• Font Settings Opens a menu of options for font properties used in the menu
template
• Layout Settings Opens a menu of options for applying changes to menu
pages or resetting them to their previous state.
• Advanced Settings Opens a menu of options for adding title menus, chapter
menus, and thumbnail numbers.
• Customize Opens the Customize Menu dialog box where you can modify
the layout, thumbnail frames and navigation buttons of your menu.
• Moving Path Applies a predefined motion path is to menu objects such as
titles, thumbnail buttons, and navigation buttons.
• Menu In/Menu Out Opens a selection filters and transition effects. If a menu
template has a Menu In effect, its default duration is 20 seconds.
Disc Quality
The burner module will create a disc without re-coding provided the video file is DVD Mpeg2 compliant, so no reduction in quality from original video.
If you are tempted to try Video Studio the X9 Trial does not allow burning discs so pointless running that

Re: DMF v6 and v7 - Need 8 titles on main menu
I copied the ufo and ini files for the 8 title text menu from studio pro (9 ?) and they do work in DMF6, and probably in DMF7 as well. I think DMF7 is preferred over 6 as long as the moving menu is enabled, to avoid the 'Unspecified Error' warning box. I prefer DMF7 because, for me, DMF6 would not reliably render main menu fade out, resulting in jerky video for the first few seconds.
