Has anyone tried to install the Service Pack 3 for X9 Ult and got the following message:

"The installed version of the application could not be determined. The set up will now terminate."

I would appreciate any help.

That message is Corel's strange way of telling you that the SP3 has already been installed. This message has been reported/commnented on many times in this forum.

What version number shows up for you when you click on Help/About? The latest version (the hot-fix SP3) updates X9 to version 19.3.0.19

Many thanks. Apologies for duplicating the question. I appreciate your help. It's just that each time I open VS9 up it asks me to install the update. I'll just ignore it.

You did not answer my question:

My version is 19.3.0.18 (64 bit ultimate).

Another thing that's happening now is if I ignore the update to service pack 3 message VS crashes. I have to try and install it to which I get the reply as stated in my first post but VS will work. If I just close the update message alert VS crashes.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Winfred

Can you delete the contents of your Messages and Downloads folders.

How……

Delete the Contents in C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Corel\Messages
This folder is hidden so type %appdata% into Windows Start search to find the roaming folder
Then
Delete the CONTENTS of the Downloads and Messages folder in C:\ProgramData\Corel

That should stop the annoying popup.
You should however see one more to install SP3 new version taking your program to 19.3.0.19

Sorry but I can't do as you ask. I'm running Windows 10 and don't know where the start menu is.

If you have the Win 10 Cortana 'assistant' operating, type it in there. That would normally be in the very bottom left of your monitor screen to the immediate right of the (green) Win 10 button. If Cortana is not operating, there will still be a search window in that location. Make sure you type in the % signs before and after appdata. At the top of the search window you should then get a yellow Windows file folder labelled %appdata% Folder. Click on that and the Roaming directory in Windows File Explorer should open.

Thank you. I've deleted the messages. I opened up VS9 but it immediately shut itself down as I didn't get the message to install service pack 3. Previously I had to try and install this to get the program to work. Shall I restore one of the deleted messages to continue.

I managed to get the program stay on long enough to check for updates which brought up service pack 3. However the same message appears as in my first post. So it is still not updating.

OK. Then go to http://www.videostudiopro.com/en/support/updates/ and click on the blue 32/64 bit link to the right of the SP3 update listed there. Ignore the date. This update, which you install while VS is closed, should update it to 19.3.0.19.

Hi

I did say that you would get the same SP3 message, but this time it would download the newer SP3 version as you have just deleted the old file.
the New SP3 should be installed to take version to 19.3.0.19

Once installed the message should stop

Let us know if you get any further crashes?

Hi.

Unfortunately it didn't work. The download came up with the same message as in my first post. However, Ken Berry sent me a link to Corels support page to update to SP3 and this has worked.

Thank you for your time.

Because the SP3 update worked from the support link and VS9 was closed I naturally assumed everything was okay. However, I've just tried to open the program and it crashed straight away, (as stated before the program only worked if I tried to install the SP3 update from the message).

The steps before were: Open VS9, message appears informing me of an update, I close VS9 and try and install update, update didn't work, but Video Studio did. Now what happens is: Open VS9, no update message, program crashes immediately.

Thank you for your help.
