Yes, I just updated Vuescan a few days ago, so all good there.
I can try to work with Canon's software to see if there is any facility for adjusting the settings to my liking. To be honest, I haven't looked at it for a long time so I'm not sure what it can do. I will play with it and post back here...
Thanks,
Svend

Joe -- I just checked, and it looks like I have not loaded Canon's Scangear into this PC as it is not compatible with Win7. All that is present is the basic toolbox for simple scans. So I have Vuescan only. Too bad... It would have been nice to test it out.

There is certainly a version of ScanGear which works with Win 7 (and indeed 8/8.5 and 10): http://support-th.canon-asia.com/conten ... 75011.html
Note, however, the caveat about the TWAIN driver only working with compatible 32 bit applications loaded onto a 64 bit version of Windows. But otherwise, you can still use PSP x64 with it by Importing from Scanner or Camera... Or you could open PSP x32 and use the TWAIN method.
An earlier version which goes up to Win 7 can be found at http://www.canon.ca/inetCA/en/suppdrv?m ... id=1005077
I certainly have ScanGear and ScanTools working on my Win 10 setup.

Thanks Ken! I had gone to Canon Canada support page, but found nothing under my scanner model software list for Scangear. Only the Toolbox utility was shown. The cd-rom was a no-go too.
I will download it over the weekend and try another scan, then post back with how it worked out.
Best,
Svend

Re: Vuescan black and white TIFF files - Grey vs. RGB
Sorry Ken - neither of those utilities worked. The one from Canon Asia wouldn't install at all, and that from Canon Cda. was for corporate network scanners only. It could not find my USB-connected scanner, and there seemed to be no actual scanning utility associated with it.
I will have to stick with Vuescan it seems. Thanks for the help anyway.
