VS X9 not rendering - windows 10

Post by laura05 »

Hi, my VS X9 has decided to stop rendering, it gets to 8% and then crashes. I also tested the project on a separate laptop and it also crashed at 82%. So im guessing its something to do with formats. There is a mix of MP4 and mts. I always mix formats and never have any problems. it is doing it up to 82% or 8% on either computer, so what is making it crash? we have all the updates and service packages. HELP!

I have been editing the project for a while and havent had any problems until today, and in the middle of editing it crashed randomly several times. I have checked my recent updates, which happened yesterday, including microsoft security updates and an adobe flash player update. I am uninstalling them to see what effect this has, however i am unsure why the crash on the other laptop too. any advice would be great.

So what did you do on the other computer to get it rendered? What are the specs of the other computer and of the main editing computer?
What exactly is your project? What are the resources in your project? There is very little information in your posts to make it possible to help you

My VS x9 is also randomly crashing over the last few days. Twice on rendering a project (at different points), when I pulled up the Task Manager during a render, when I navigated to VSP (not rendering) from another application and alarmingly, crashed with an empty timeline. I have sent a support ticket to Corel with the following crash info

hi, my main computer is a HP ENVY, intel processor 7, windows 10, nvidia geforce. The laptop is a HP, intel processor 5, windows 10. The main computer never has any issues, so its weird that the laptop rendered it so easily. There seems to be something annoying the computer and it all started after the updates, but i removed them and it didnt make a difference.

The project is a detailed music video, with lots of shots, layers, overlays, some effects, colour effects and lots of movement etc. i make these everyday and never have any problems.

I have cleaned the main computer as much as i can, wiping files and making sure there is plenty of space, so this is not the issue. i have made sure the projects properties are set properly, all the video files are already on the computer, they are not from an external, they are not corrupted. I can still edit the project easily, but it wont render.

I also opened another similar project with the same style of edit and tried to render that. it rendered fine, it had the same mix of footage, same edit effects, same formats.

I also now, deleted all the video files off the computer and the smart proxy and uploaded them again, and relinked them, and that didnt work. Running out of ideas now.. i think the project must be corrupted.

Which updates are you talking about? The 2 SP3 updates or window updates? How did you remove the updates?

Are the projects on the laptop and on the main computer completely identical? If yes then the project is probably not corrupted and the problem is with problem computer or the X9 install on that computer.

One way of debugging is to delete parts of your project in steps and render after each delete until you find the point where the problem occurs. You should of course make a copy of your original project file before doing any deletes.
I never put "all the eggs in one basket", ie. I break up a project into several smaller projects and work on those. After rendering, the video files can be combined for the final render if they render without errors.

Laura, your computer sounds suspiciously like mine, and I have LOTS of problems with crashing. Mine crashes while editing with 4K video files, especially if I have 4K video in an overlay track. My computer has also crashed while rendering, although that has been a little better lately.

I too have an HP Envy with an Intel i7 (6th generation, i7-6700) and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX745 display card. I bought the computer at Costco, BTW. The computer is insanely fast and I don't need to make proxies of 4K files in order to edit them, but the constant crashes makes it less than fun to use.

It would be really interesting if you have the same computer and bought it from Costco.
