Problem handling MOV files

Post by huazheng »

Sorry if it's a duplicate topic, I see several related posts but none contains the exact problem that I'm having.

I have 64bit X8 (18.6.0.6) with SP3 and hotfix 2 on Window 7 Pro 64bit, and I've used it mainly to edit videos from a Canon 7D, which are .MOV files (H.264, 1280x738, 59.94fps).

It's been a while since the last time I did it, and today VS crashes when I drag-n-drop a MOV file into it. If I try to insert the file into timeline, I get an error:
Assetion failed!

Program: ...\corel videostudio pro x8\vio\uvqt.vio
File: QtSim.cpp
Line: 1661

Expression: !"[x64] need QuickTime for Windows 64-bit SDK!! GetMovieUserData() is called."
If I change the file to .MP4, I can insert it and play, but whenever I seek VS crashes. Windows event log shows:
Faulting application name: vstudio.exe, version: 18.4.0.27, time stamp: 0x5654094d
Faulting module name: ulmp4lib.dll, version: 18.6.0.6, time stamp: 0x562475cb

Faulting module path: E:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X8 64bit\Corel VideoStudio Pro X8\ulmp4lib.dll
I have QuickTime installed.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

Hi
And welcome to the forums

First are the frame details as 1280 x 738 a typo, I would have expected 1280 x 720?

Make sure your project properties match your video files properties, as near as you can.
Try Online format

MPEG-4 Files
24 bits, 1280 x 720, 59.94 fps
Frame-based
H.264 Main Profile Video: 10000 Kbps, 16:9
44100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio: 128 Kbps

There is an option in preferences to Show Messages…tick that option.
Start a new project and insert video to timeline, right click timeline for options, normally a window will show asking you match the properties, unfortunately may not work with Canon 7D video, guess I just wasted my time there, but best that the option is selected.

Ok there were several hot fixes provided by Corel to correct Mov and Mpeg4 issues, easy to apply by replacing your E:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X8 64bit\Corel VideoStudio Pro X8\ulmp4lib.dll file

The last fix I had assumed has been incorporated to SP3.
But give it a go any way.
Download "file and read me" from my One Drive here.
