I have 64bit X8 (18.6.0.6) with SP3 and hotfix 2 on Window 7 Pro 64bit, and I've used it mainly to edit videos from a Canon 7D, which are .MOV files (H.264, 1280x738, 59.94fps).
It's been a while since the last time I did it, and today VS crashes when I drag-n-drop a MOV file into it. If I try to insert the file into timeline, I get an error:
If I change the file to .MP4, I can insert it and play, but whenever I seek VS crashes. Windows event log shows:Assetion failed!
