Import/Open Image = Wrong/Reduced colors? (X8)

Post by Troy at TheGTAMblog »

I am enjoying the Trial of X8, but there seems to be an issue where importing/opening an image seems to result in an odd 'reduction' of colors... (the image appears 'blotchy' and areas of colour changes are 'flattened' out).

I have disabled the automatic ("Always") Convert to 8bit option in the Preferences, but perhaps there is a setting somewhere else I am missing?

Here is an example of the difference with importing images (the issue does not occur with X7):

The colour difference can mainly be seen in the lower-left (darker) portion of this example, but the entire image is this way, as well

Thanks for any ideas or guidance as to what I might be missing here...

You could try disabling color management as a number of people have complained about it. File - Color Management - Color Management.
PSPX9 | PSP2020 | PSP2021| PSP2022 | PSP2023 & PhotoMirage installed; PSPX | PSPX2 thru PSP2019 owned but not installed

Fantastic - that was it!
I'm sorry that I did not find this simple solution earlier, perhaps the terms I was using to Search with were not bringing up this issue (I did not know the technical terms)... But your suggestion has again, fixed the issue easily - thanks so much!

Edit:
Just wanted to come back and add that I have now Upgraded to PSPx8 - thanks again for all assistance here 8)

Color management has been a weak point of PSP for a long time. Corel doesn't seem to care. Mind you they may have to unscramble the egg to fix though.

Ah, I did not know there is a 'history' there... I did see in the Color Management that there are a number of options which seemed like they could be helpful, but none of them suited my personal need at the moment.

Thanks for your input
