You won't believe this. I just reported an old issue again, and also mentioning that I can't test it yet because of the many bugs people are reporting everywhere, on Facebook and on this forum.
After a few days I got the question if I was by any chance using Linux Mint. So I said yes. This was the answer:
Unfortunately, AfterShot 3 was not made compatible in Linux Mint. The program can only perform in Linux Ubuntu/Fedora. I apologize for the inconvenience. Is there anything else I can help you with?
What the **** ! First of all, Linux Mint IS Ubuntu (I put that into my reply), and secondly, Linux Mint is used by as many users as Ubuntu itself, and according to many, better and more stable.
AfterShot 3 was not made compatible in Linux Mint. This reply I never expected. I´m totally perplex...

Re: ASP 3 Not compatible with Linux Mint!
I've been running ASP Pro 3 under Mint 17.3 Cinnamon, (64bit) without any problems.
I amended the start-up script to eliminate the crash on drag issue, and all seems well.
It's possibly not 'bug free', I’m only running the unregistered version, but can't imagine that makes any difference.
As noted elsewhere, after finding the the 'New' version of Gradfilter Pro runs quite happily in ASP 2 Pro 2.4.0.119, I see no need to upgrade anyway.

Re: ASP 3 Not compatible with Linux Mint!
Did you get a solution to this? I'm also struggling with aftershot in Mint. It used to work perfectly and then unfathomably stopped. Corel suggested reinstalling but that doesn't help.
Re: ASP 3 Not compatible with Linux Mint! SOLVED
For the benefit of anyone else searching for solutions to this, I found one here yesterday https://www.garron.me/en/linux/install- ... buntu.html
This relates to a problems with Ruby but seems to be caused by the same dependency issue. I followed it exactly (except for the final step).
I have now managed to open aftershot, then open, edit and export an image so am confident that it has worked.
Problem - Aftershot crashing a few seconds after opening (always just long enough to give the false hope that it was going to work). Started with Aftershot 3 but persisted after reverting to version 2. Corel had suggested reinstalling but that didn't work.
After years of not using it, I found this solution by checking the aftershot error log and googling some of the errors thrown up.
For record, I am using Mint 20 although the solution refers to Ubuntu 20.
