Trial version of WinDVD 11 has expired. Paid for, and downloaded the full version, and received an emailed license key. Received error message when attempted to install the full version:
"The installation wizard encountered a problem while trying to configure your software. Could not access file:
c/users\...\appdata\local\temp\e8d (etc)...\setup\setup.msi"
The temp sub-folder "e8d (etc)" is present, but not the "setup" folder underneath it, nor "setup.msi".
When I close the installation, I received a message:
"You do not have sufficient privileges to complete this installation. /this installation requires administrative or elevated privileges..."
I've run the file by selecting "Run as administrator". I ran it with my AVAST antivirus program not disabled, and received the following warning from Avast:
"c/users\...\appdata\local\temp\...\DVD11.msi
Infection: Malware-gen [Trj]
Process: C:\Download\WinDVD11-Pro-PF.exe
The threat was detected and blocked when the file was created or modified."
It also adds, "Report the file as a false positive". I don't now if it's a false positive or not.
Would appreciate a solution. I have paid for this program but can't install it. I also cannot either reinstall or uninstall the trial version of WinDVD 11 as it reports the same problem of not being able to access "setup.msi".
Thanks,
RMS1

Re: Full version WinDVD 11 fails to install
No one has responded so I will post an update to my own query.
I have been in email correspondence with a Corel tech help adviser. The advice was to re-download the full version of WinDVD 11, and then (quoting the tech advisor:
"Try to create a new user account in your computer... once the new profile is created, you will need to go back into the User Accounts in the Control Panel and change the new account to reflect that it is an Administrator. Once the new account is created, log into that new user and attempt to complete the installation from there."
My reply to this was that this instruction is too complex for most computer users, including myself, to follow. I suggested that my money should be refunded. I then received another email, as follows:
"To further fix your issue, please try to create a new windows user profile with administrator rights and then install WinDVD Pro 2011 installer which I gave from the previous email. Input your "Serial number"... Once the software is installed, you can then switch back to your original windows user profile and check if your WinDVD Pro 2011 if now works properly."
This advise is no clearer than the previous advice, because I do not know how to follow the instructions, and I do not wish to make an error by tampering with user accounts and administrator privileges etc, and make the situation worse. As well, my request for a refund has been totally ignored. I have since asked for either a clearly written, unambiguous, step-by-step procedure, or a refund. I have not received a reply.
