CVSX9 with SP3 or SP2
Hi
CVSX9 with SP3 or SP2
Take care reverting the program by re-installing only SP2 will NOT open any existing projects created using SP3
at least that's my experience.

Re: CVSX9 with SP3 or SP2
I had to re-install X9 and chose to do so without SP3 - until I understand whats going on and what it does apart from adding that triple scoop library
installed SP2 and running fine
Is the problem of opening SP2 projects with SP3 still present when you do the latest 'hotfix' and change the .exe file

Re: CVSX9 with SP3 or SP2
Hi Brian
Did not try that as the Hot Fix was for SP3 and like you I have SP2.
1 / Using original vstudio.exe the vsp tries to load, changes the project name to “Untitled,0’0” but no files are loaded to timeline.
2 / With the vstudio.exe replaced the program crashes when trying to open old X9 VSP
I am cleaning my PC to eventually create a disc image as a C:Drive backup to replace my old backup.
Hence reinstalling X9 without SP3.
I do not like the way Corels programs are affecting my pc and need some security backup rather than a windows re-install.

Re: CVSX9 with SP3 or SP2
Hi Brian
I sent a mail to Yvonne and got this reply
For project compatibility, yes, the SP3 project can't be backward compatible with SP2 as we modify the project parameter for Triple Scoop music.
Hopefully Corel are working on SP3 and the TSM

Re: CVSX9 with SP3 or SP2
Thats absolutely crazy - if you install SP3 you cannot edit any previous projects that you have done in X9
which begs the question - can you open projects made in previous versions of Videostudio - X6, X7, X8 for instance
sorry I can't test I am refusing to install SP3 - it has given me more grief than any other update has in the last 15 years -added to that it appears there are even more problems after installing as Robert has reported

Re: CVSX9 with SP3 or SP2
Trevor, I'm going to uninstall X9 SP3 and then reinstall X9 SP2. To uninstall X9 SP3, do I just need to run the "Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X9" program in Control Panel Programs and Features (Win 7) or is there some gotcha that also must be done to remove X9 Ultimate and all its add-ins, e.g. ProDad? Thanks.lata wrote:reverting the program by re-installing only SP2

Re: CVSX9 with SP3 or SP2
yes but there is no option just to uninstall SP3 - the entry in Windows programmes and features will remove the whole Videostudio programme - content and ultimate components - then you need to install again (make sure you have your serial number) - make sure you uncheck any option you see to add SP3 - after installation install SP2

Re: CVSX9 with SP3 or SP2
Hi
It is highly likely that SP2 is part of your installation package, after installing CVSX9 check your version from Help About
Should be 19.2.0.4.
If 19.1
Then download SP2 and manually install.
I assume you are installing the download version.?
You will be pestered to upgrade to SP3

Re: CVSX9 with SP3 or SP2
I'll uninstall X9 SP3 and then reinstall the original X9 without any SP, reinstall the ultimate add-ins, and finally update to SP2 which is still available on the download page (http://www.videostudiopro.com/en/suppor ... duct-tab_0). Thanks.lata wrote:It is highly likely that SP2 is part of your installation package

Re: CVSX9 with SP3 or SP2
I am about to uninstall VSX9 SP3 and reinstall with SP2 only, so before I start, I have tested projects completed in VSX7 and VSX8 and can confirm that they do open without issue in VSX9 SP3, a lot of relinking necessary, but that's to be expected.BrianCee wrote:Thats absolutely crazy - if you install SP3 you cannot edit any previous projects that you have done in X9

Will now create a project with SP3, then see if it can be opened after reinstall with SP2

Re: CVSX9 with SP3 or SP2
I also confirm that VSX9 SP2 cannot open projects created with SP3, a ridiculous situation that VSX9 cannot open a program created in VSX9, albeit a later version, should still work

Re: CVSX9 with SP3 or SP2
Hi Guys
I wonder if projects made with SP3 but saved for X8, can then be opened in CVSX9 SP2
Certainly open in X8.
Could be a workround for those caught in the trap.
Can you try and open this using CVSX9 SP2

Re: CVSX9 with SP3 or SP2
Hi Trevor,
Yes I can open your sample VSP with SP2, I had already saved an SP3 project as a VSX8 file, before reinstalling and that opened as well, so that would be the workaround for the time being
