ASP3 doesn't start anymore on Ubuntu 16.04 amd64

Post by JulienV »

Hi,

After updating from ASP2 to ASP3, I have quickly tested and everything was looking good (except the GUI was not translated into French any more but it is a different matter).
Today, I am not able to start ASP3.
Here is what I get when launching from terminal:

Code: Select all

% AfterShot3X64
Install Path: /opt/AfterShot3(64-bit)
LD_PATH: /opt/AfterShot3(64-bit)/lib:
XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS:
I have SSE2
Bibble program arguments ("./AfterShot")
Linux does not support Commond Folder. Uses "/opt/AfterShot3(64-bit)/supportfiles"
Loading plugins
And then it gets stucked...

After removing "~/.Aftershot Pro 3" folder, I get the following output:

Code: Select all

% AfterShot3X64
Install Path: /opt/AfterShot3(64-bit)
LD_PATH: /opt/AfterShot3(64-bit)/lib:
XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS:
I have SSE2
Bibble program arguments ("./AfterShot")
first run - setting up folders
I also see a window with "Choose Folder Locations" title, but do not see the contents of the window (it shows the contents of the window behind, and seems to be stalled as it doesn't close when hitting the x button.

I have tried downgrading QT related librairies, as well as compiz packages, with no success. I could not identify any other updates that could lead to this issue, but may have missed some.

I have no idea how I could try and debug this.
Any hint?

Cheers,
Julien

I have tried re-installing ASP2.4 and, though I am not able to open my catalogues (probably due to the fact I have opened them with ASP3), it starts fine.

Cheers,

I was able to run ASP 3 on Ubuntu machine that was upgraded to 16.04 however I am now having problems with it crashing.
I build out a new machine with a fresh install of 16.04 but I am unable to get either ASP 2 or 3 to start.

Is there a way to launch ASP with a command line switch that will output extensive information for trouble shooting?

Thanks

the appliation did not start from the launcher so i tried to launch from the command line.

hi,

found the solution @

https://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/AfterShot_Pro/

sudo apt-get install libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-0

after that, ASP just starts fine...

Excellent! I can confirm that this works.
(1) I ran it on my laptop workstation which was a first attempt ASP install on 16.04 ( worked )
(2) I ran it on my fresh installed desktop buiild that I had backported in an attempt to follow the ASP error messages. (worked)
Note, I will have to do some clean up on this machine because I think I may have started going into left field

Thanks!

Sorry for the late reply, but I have been able to start ASP3 again after removing ~/.config/Corel/AfterShot Pro v3.conf.lock
I guess this flie was left there after a crash.

Cheers

Even though I am able to launch the application now, there are stability issues and it crashes anytime I navigate to one of my picture folders to edit jpeg.

Using ASP3 on Ubuntu 16.04 and the app crashes reading many files / directories. I originally thought the crashes were with tif files but it is more complicated than this.
I have found some directories with only JPG files that cause the crash.
I have not yet found the common factor leading to the crashes.
