Crashing Browsing High Number Of Images In Folder (x7)

Post by Troy at TheGTAMblog »

Sorry to bother you all with a post, but I did a quick Search and did not see any information on this, specifially.

I also realize that any 'crashes' are hard to pin down usually, and can depend on a huge number of system/hardware/software variables; but I was wondering if there is perhaps a known issue for crashing when browsing through a high number of images (16,000+ screenshots in one directory, PSPx7).

For instance, if this was a known issue with x7, but it isn't with x8, that is something that would entice me to upgrade sooner

I did some Basic Troubleshooting (relocating the Scratch Disk, closing background applications, a cleaner boot/startup, etc.) but if it was say, a 'known issue' that PSP has with a large number of images, then I would not worry about it much further, I would just put up with it, for now.

Just wondering - thanks for any information anyone may have.

Edit:
Doing some testing, this seems to only occur in Windows 10 and not in Windows 8.1 (tested on a Dual-Boot system).
In Windows 10, it tries for a minute then goes into Not Responding mode (when trying to browse the folder).
In Windows 8, any actions take about half a minute (navigating, deleting images, etc) but it eventually comes out of Not Responding mode and finalizes the action.
Just adding in case it helps at all

Troy - I've not seen the issue. Probably the best option would be to download a PSPX8 as Corel offers a free trial. That way you will know for sure how the program behaves on your systems.

Thank you for your input - I did just that (installing the Trial for PSPx8).

Testing it out superficially in Windows 10, x8 takes a moment to finalize any actions performed (understandable); but it did work without issue with all the images in the folder. Great!
I am also pleased by the sleek look and easy to access controls - all kept and slightly improved from x7 - that, along with Batch Processing and [when I can] doing some testing with how well Magic Move works, all are pushing me toward Upgrading

Thanks again for your suggestion about the Trial, Kathy!
