Hi,
I'm pretty much completely new to video editing, so please bear with me.
I downloaded the X9 trial version. However, whenever I trim clips downloaded from youtube and move them into my timeline, the resulting clip does not play properly. It either keeps staggering or it is completely black.
Also, when I tried to import a downloaded facebook video, it would not play at all...
I apologise if these are silly questions. I am not sure if this has something to do with my computer as ever since downloading this software, everything has slowed down. It takes me ages just to open Chrome.
Would really appreciate any help!

Re: Newbie Help with trial version of X9
One of the first things to note is that the trial version is hardly representative of the full programme - so much has been removed or crippled that many people do not think it a proper trial - there are many video formats that it will not play or edit so it is hardly worthwhile - so the fact that your videos do not play is almost certainly due to the restrictions of the trial version and not to the videos or any thing you are doing

Re: Newbie Help with trial version of X9
Hi
It could also be the video files, YouTube does compress video to view, Downloading from YT may also re-code the video, so it may be just the poor quality and maybe type of codecs used.
Some video is ok to playback but difficult to edit, And when you do use different download options you will find differences in files properties.
For the few downloads I have done I used Torch Browser that has a Media Download option and as far as I know does not re-code the video during downloading, it seemed to work better than other downloads.
If the download files are Mpeg4 or Mov you will / may need Quicktime installed

Thanks a lot for your responses! That makes sense. I'll try using Torch Browser and if that doesn't work, I guess I'll have to think about buying the software.lata wrote:Hi
