Fustration isnt the word Im looking for!!! I download VS X9 a few months back, works ok, havent really used it. Come to use it yesterday and low behold of course is doesnt open for me!!!!! typical same ******* problem i had with previous versions of VS...clearly not able to cope with windows 10..all these blasted addons/updates etc etc losing my work etc etc
I contacted Corel help - speedy replies but useless ulitmately. At a loss.
Apparently it could be because I need to make sure my default browser window is explorer..not Edge or something or other....
Researched..wasted time...nothing...each time I download programme up pops the window ' cant continue, contact support'
Any advice/ and how the hector do I default brower? etc All i know is...my explorer pops up with MSN by default and from there I use MSN or google.
Thanks in advance. I need a lie-down and i want my money back!!!

I and many other forum users have X9 working perfectly well on W10 - - but what are you using - you talk of W10 but your profile says W7 which is correct ?

Do you perhaps have a vested interested in said product prey tell? as there is no doubt later version of VS simply do not work as well / stable as previous. I have lost numerous work due to forced updates which is highly annoying and now once again purchasing the latest version in March I find myself in similar terrority.
As per my message, i have windows 10, havent updated profile as rarely use VS.
According to corel 'help' - VS requires explorer browser..not Edge..so need to ensure it's defaulted. What has changed since i first installed VS in March i dont know! worked ok then. Havent altered PC in anyway.
I have noted though that 'Edge' and that nonesense 'Corena' which comes with Widows 10 and also the 'Search' box has kindof disappeared on my PC...not sure why...but whether thats got anything to do with VS not working...advice -simply stated - very welcome.

Re: problems problems problems VS not up to the job!!
Hi
My experience with Windows 10 was not good to the point I have now reverted to using Windows 7.
I have to say I first re-installed Windows 7 to start from a clean installation, then upgraded to 10.
It was the overall experience that was a problem, Windows would simply freeze, then refresh, sometimes going to a black screen, I concluded it was in fact my hardware that was about as old as I am, although a google search found most of my issues were being experienced by others.
(I doubt that your Search box disappearing has anything to do with Video Studio.)
So I either upgraded my pc with new graphics board and main board or revert to W7. Maybe I will have to do later???
As for CVSX9 for me it is rock solid, it does not always perform well with some video types, but new video is being introduced all the time leaving the video editors playing catch-up, and if you have a problem with a particular video type, report it to Corel Support.
The recent Service Pack3 has caused a problem in Drop and Drag files from Windows Explorer, Corel are now aware and will fix the problem. But no problem importing from Video Studio so we can continue to edit our video.
The recent 4K type video caused a problem in rendering over 4 Gb, that issue has now been fixed and part of SP3
So Corel are continually working on issues providing they are given details of any problem.
And no i do not have a vested interest in the product, just a hobby

Pity you are offensive and talk rubbish. You should know that all the contributors are users with no financial interest in Corel. Just because you can't work VS, it does not mean that the program is at fault. Perhaps a bit more user experience would be beneficial.
I am working VS X9 under Windows 7 and, for me, it works fine.

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Re: problems problems problems VS not up to the job!!
I will highlight only this from our friend "I have lost numerous work due to forced updates which is highly annoying"
Well, corel never forced any update, but I do know of a Redmond WA. company that does that all the time (and specialy on the notorious 10)
I still use X9 with SP2 only, and X8 with no patches at all (X8 on never updated XP SP3).
And surly I will never do any upgrade/change during a project.
Having said that, VS never or ever will be perfect.

As said by the others - I have no vested interest at all in Videostudio or Corel - along with my fellow admins, moderators and users I am here completely voluntarily giving our time with the only recompense being the satisfaction of helping others to get the best out of the programme
I have been a consistent user of Videostudio and of these forums since version 6 - some 12 or more years ago
no one has ever *forced* me to upgrade or update yet I have done so eagerly and willingly with nearly every version.
I have never lost any work - surely you regularly save everything so that if anything does go wrong it is just a matter of shutting down - restarting - and away you go again.
I am a great believer in regular maintenance of my computer keeping all programme up to date and regularly removing god knows what extraneous files and junk - if all is well with your computer - all will be well with Videostudio - and it will provide a stable worktool for all of my video editing

I have been using VideoStudio since version 5. I started with Pinnacle, but found it too buggy and not as reliable as VS. I used VS in conjunction with Vegas, but recent improvements have obviated the use of Vegas. VS Pro X9 runs perfectly on my new Gigabyte P57W laptop using Windows 10 and the new Skylake processor.
