Can I upgrade without previous VS program installed?

I had Videostudio ProX 7 installed on my computer when the computer had a system fault that meant I had to do a complete 'refresh'. All my programs and apps were removed in the process. Now that the system is up and running again, I wanted to upgrade to Videostudio ProX9. I still have my activation code for ProX7, but the program itself is not on the computer any more. Can I purchase and activate the 'upgrade' version of VS 9, without having the older VS 7 program actually on my computer, or should I install VS 7 again and then do the upgrade?

My computer is a Toshiba, 64 bit, running Windows 8.1.

Yes you can, when installing the upgrade to VSX9 it will ask you for your previous version key, you can, if you want, have both VSX7 and VSX9 installed, obviously, you can only use one version at a time
