ASP 3 Crashes on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

Post by technoholic »

When attempting to load a folder of jpg images with spaces in the file names. ASP 3 will either lockup with a greyed out screen or shut down completely. After a shutdown, restarting the app returns a prompt to resume or cancel. Selecting cancel results in the app initializing and then immediately shutting down. The problem does not happen when loading RAW files and did not exist in version 2.

I need the developers to come back with a fix.

This is to confirm that this seems to not only be a problem with 14.04 but also on 16.04.
I have deployed on 3 different types of distribution machines ( 1) and organically updated to 16.04 (2) Fresh install of 16.04 (3) 15.10 upgrade to 16.04 LTS which I tried to resolve via individual patches...

Is there a way to send the crash report to Corel for analysis?

Hi,

I was quite pleased to find a raw editor for Linux which works perfectly with the Nikon D7200 NEF files (which several open source programs still can't handle).

However, while trying aftershot pro 3 on ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS I ran into several game stopping problems:

- If I ever try to open a JPG which was exported by aftershot it immediately coredumps (segfault)
Yes, this means the very first jpg exported to the directory with the NEF file causes a crash when aftershot tries to add the jpg file, resume crashes on reading in the directory as well
For whatever reason, the shell output states it tries to read the TIFF file (while it's a jpg, readable by any other program)
Currently my workaround is to specify a output directory far ways from the input files.
- Thanks to the:
cd "${INSTALL_PATH}/bin"
in /usr/bin/AfterShot3X64 the current directory of aftershot will always be a NOT WRITEABLE directory, effectively prohibiting core dumps.

- frequent freeezes: Again and again aftershot pro 3 either while creating previews and/or exporting processed photos it will use
up all available cores with 100% but will not write out anything (running at 2x100% during an entire night produces zero images)
If continuing to edit an image the entire aftershot will freeze up (just locked up mostly, sometimes with no image available)

Are these known bugs? Does anybody else have the same problems? Are there any workarounds or -- even better -- bugfixes to be expected?

I would be quite willing to help debugging, however symbol stripped core dumps will most likely not help that much.
