Hi Folk,
I wonder if you can help. I installed MF 2.00 from the CD that I recieved when I got my Hauppauge WinTV USB2 PVR.
I then updated the MF 2 to MF 4.
Then I discovered that it wouldn't read my USB2 WinTV Box to capture.
So, I downloaded from Ulead the new Hauppauge USB2 patch and installed.
Then I downloaded the 20 mb MF4.2 update.
The result is that when I seek to capture using the ADD Media and Video Button the program completely crashes right out.
I wonder what is going on?
Thanks for your help in advance.
Regards
Roger

There is a separate patch for Hauppauge devices in the MF4 update page. Go check it out if your Hauppauge devices is supported by the patch im talking about.
by default, mf4 does not support Hauppauge devices. It will only be supported if the device is bundled with MovieFactory because of the built in capture plugin.
in this case, since Ulead released a patch to supporte some hauppauge devices, i suggest you try them out if it would work.

Can't even load the Haupage driver patch!
I had MF3SE that came with my WinTV DVR USB and it worked fine with the software, so I bought and downloaded 4.o and now I can't import MPG files (which 3.0 could), it won't recognize my Haupage USB drivers, the patch installer at Ulead for my WinTV opens the installer but returns a message that says it can't fine Movie Factory 4 on my PC -- WELL IT'S THERE! I can see it, open it, poke around in it! The only thing I can't do with this nearly $70 monstrosity is USE IT!
I tried unclicking that "Do Not convert Compliant Mpeg2 files" box but it didn't help.
By the way, while I was able to work with MPG files in MF3SE I was unable to do a burn because the burner said not enough disk space.
I see so many complaints I wonder whether anone has successfully used this software.
Any clues to solutions will be appreciated.

Trouble updating MF 4
This is related to the thread. I downloaded the updates, but they won't install: I get a message that the update can't find MF 4. I even tried moving the update into the MF 4 folder. Any ideas?

Can't Find Movie Factory 4
I had the same problem with the update not recognizing that MF4 was installed. I ended up uninstalling MF4, then reinstallin it, rebooting, then installing each update with a reboot afterward and all was well.
I still get a "Key Error" message when I open the program, but one click on the error allows it to open and operate. The error so far doesn't seem to be causing a problem.
