Voiceover track

Post by mwsing »

I have many years of experience using Videostudio (since V2!) However, since installing X9 I have a problem with the voiceover track that I record. When I replay a track there is an audible "click" at the start of every track. I have been able to get rid of this by doing a fade in at the beginning of each voiceover clip, which is inconvenient and annoying. Is this a known problem and is there a fix for it? I do have a touch screen, so I will try that. Even if that works it does not solve the general problem.

Sorry, cannot reproduce your problem, tried many voice-overs but could not detect any audible clicks

I tnink it must be picking up the mouse click when I press Start. Perhaps there is a problem with my microphone...

You could always pause for a second after hitting the record button. That should give you enough of a gap between the click and the voiceover audio to let you snip the click off.

I am now editing another video and am having the same problem. I thought that perhaps if I used the touch screen to start recording then the "Click" would not appear, but it does. I can clearly see it when I switch to "Sound Mixer: mode, as a small vertical line at the bottom. Of course, I have been deleting the first couple of seconds but it is really tedious to have to do this for every voiceover!

This sounds like a computer and setup problem - not VideoStudio. Have you tried recording your voiceovers in Audacity and then locating the files on a VS audio channel?
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Hi

I have also tried to replicate this but my recordings are clear.
I even hit the keyboard "S" button quite hard and did not pick up that noise.

Like Terfyn I think it must be your ps audio settings.
If so when you try Audacity you should get the same problem, I would have thought.

Have you tried re-installing your Audio drivers?

I thought I would update the Realtek HD Driver as the simplest thing to try first. Now I cannot get any sound from my speakers. I seem to recall this from long ago, but dan't remember how I fixed it. The Control Panel tells me that the device is working properly.

First of all make sure that your speakers are selected as the default device, then open volume mixer and ensure that the volume control for your speakers is turned up and not set to mute, it's possible that your settings changed when updating the driver. If that is not the problem it could be a faulty driver, try rolling back the driver and see if that corrects the problem.

Hi

That’s unfortunate but clearly that should not happen.
When we uninstall audio drivers as far as I know Windows will install its default driver and not leave the pc without audio. Other dedicated drivers can then be installed.

I assume the Device Manager shows the sound / audio as faulty?

Did you uninstall from Program and Features or Device Manager or both?

I didn't uninstall - I opened the sound set=up(I assume this is in device manager) and there was an option to "Update Driver" which is what I did. Thereafter I had no sound. So I opened the sound set-up again and rolled back to the old driver, but still had no sound, so I can't think where else to look to fix the problem. Not sure what you mean by Program and Features. When I open the device manager it tells me that the speaker audio is working correctly - I just don't get sound through the speakers!

That could be the problem, what version did Device Manager install, then check on the Realtek website to see if it is in fact the latest driver, windows does not always install the correct driver, also check with your PC manufacturer for any updates

Hi

Program & Features is located in the Control Panel.

It is a panel that allows us to uninstall programs, use with care if you are new to this panel.

Press the Start button ( windows logo) lower left
From the right hand menu choose Control Panel
The panel can display in two views –
1 / Category view - with about 9 entries select Programs
2 / Icon view --with a lot of entries choose programs and Features.

This will list all programs installed on your pc.

You need to identify the audio maybe called realtek.

I don’t wish you to uninstall the wrong program so if you are unsure do you know anyone else that can help you.?

You can try visiting the del site where you can scan the pc to find your pc, from there maybe locate the Audio Driver, again I think Realtek

http://www.dell.com/support/home/uk/en/ukbsdt1

Take care
