OK I'm not sure if it's a bug but I would like some feedback if others are getting the same result.
PSPx8.
I open a file. Select the warp brush. Mode = Push. I can select size. I can select hardness. I can select strength. But why is steps greyed out? If I go any where near it with my tablet pen my custom menus go wonky and rearrange themselves. I have to reload my custom workspace. At which time any warp strokes disappear and I'm back to the the Pan tool. (Same happens if I try to select Noise). Now if I select another mode, such as Expand, the same thing happens. If I go anywhere near a greyed out option my workspace has a fit causing me to have to reload the custom workspace.
So why is this happening. Sure it's greyed out and not available but any accidental contact is causing the workspace to have a fit. It's means the warp tool is unusable. Any miss selection causes mayhem.
Anyone having the same issue?

I'm not seeing that with X8 (no SP's) and using a mouse. The worst I'm seeing is the tool bar occasionally dislodges when making adjustments to the settings.

Re: Warp tool in x8 'bug'.
For me X8 behaves the same as X7. With image loaded and warp brush chosen, the Step is greyed out. But I can switch to say Expand , change the step and then switch back to Push and that value is retained but again greyed out. Seems that with Push chosen you cannot change step.
I do not get any wonkiness, but then I am not using a tablet. Is this a graphics tablet attached to a desktop computer you are talking about or a tablet PC?

Re: Warp tool in x8 'bug'.
Guys it's a new'ish' laptop running win 8.1. Wacom tablet. If I try to select a greyed out option the menu jumps. If I try to relocate it I get into trouble. So I reselect my custom workspace. That returns me to the pan tool. I'm also loosing, not always, the last warp tool action when I reopen my custom workspace.
hartpaul thank for the tip on going to another mode to change the steps. It make me wonder what Corels logic is behind this is. If you can change modes and change steps then why can't you change it in the mode you are in? And what has that got to do with the menu issue? Corel you/we have a problem. Anyone listening?
regards
ps. FWIW the same thing happens in x7.

Re: Warp tool in x8 'bug'.
For what its worth this greying out of the step box occurred way back at PSP8 as well so its a carry over from the Jasc days, that has slipped through as no one else has thought to bring it up. So perhaps not common enough a problem for Corel to address. Do you have the same problem if you use a mouse rather than the tablet?

Re: Warp tool in x8 'bug'.
Yeah same problem. I have an older laptop with x8 installed. That laptop uses a mouse. (I don't use it much so I haven't got a custom workspace set up).
It may not be a common problem. But it's these nagging issues that make me and others look elsewhere. I now use Photoline for most of my work. For a much more complicated program it has far less issues. Does that mean the folks at Photoline are smarter or does that mean the folks at Corel don't care? I still use PSP simply because it has some nice features as well as me being too lazy/busy to learn all the 'tricks' of Photoline.

Re: Warp tool in x8 'bug'.
I guess because PSP is like a shanty that has had lots of extra rooms added using different specifications so that there is no perfect fit and the different parts are cobbled together with some rooms locked (unused commands) and redesigning of some rooms so that there is an ill fit to the others.
Meanwhile Photoline is like a modular building designed from scratch and still being worked on by the original architects and builders.
Not so much that the people of Corel don't care but that it is too difficult to resurrect the original plans and reconstruct the building on a new lot.

Re: Warp tool in x8 'bug'.
The 'fun' part is that Photoline allows for PSP to be used as an external editor. Just like a plugin! This allows me to use all the goodies in Photoline and PSP.
Corel has a scrambled egg. Unscrambling it will be difficult if not impossible. But they need to be aware of issues. IMHO Corel needs to slow down on all the new bells and whistles and get as many annoyances out of the way. No program can be everything to everyone. I would rather a simple bullet proof PSP rather than a fancy one with so many bugs that I/we have to resort to other programs such as Photoline.
